Bracketology 2024

I would think the committee would have better judgement placing a 8/9 seed only 60 miles away from their campus

Why? They put WI as a 3 in Milwaukee two years ago.

I think it will be Neb or WI.

I also think they give Neb the 7.

I wonder if some people don’t know what the MVC looks like today even compared to 5 years ago.
The Valley has historically been 7th-9th for the past 20 years. This year it finished 9th, just a fraction behind the A10.

It's every bit the same league it's always been even if the names have changed.

It's a computer that does the bracketing and there's not a thing against the principles with putting Nebraska there.

It's just as likely as any other school on that seed line.

A 3 seed playing close to home can and does happen. But the committee does not reward lower seeds by playing in their closest venue

I think a lot of these bracketologists are just having a hard time wrapping their head around what happened yesterday. They basically thought the 1 seeds were locked up with UNC being the last 1 seed after Tennessee lost in the SEC quarters, and even thought teams 5-8 were pretty much locked up as well. The statistical odds that Purdue, Houston and UNC would lose and ISU would have the biggest Ken pom/metrics anomaly win of all time was basically unfathomable.

All the bracketologists have to go back and try and get what they had going into yesterday out of their heads and basically start over seeding teams because yesterday was the craziest day ever for bracketology

I’m so sick of the same question being asked and sorry if this is taking it too far but:

People unless a bomb is dropped on the city of Omaha between now and next weekend we will playing in Omaha regardless of seed or region.
It will be a Bomb Cyclone

I know this is not popular, but I think they’re all overreacting to the conference tournaments. The committee has routinely ignored the results of the tournaments and seeded based more heavily on the regular season. So ISU will probably be a 2 seed

I would absolutely normally agree with you but yesterday was different and I think will really make it hard for the committee to find much difference between UNC and ISUs resume. I agree that in the end we will be a 2 seed still but I think we improved from 7-8 overall to 5-6 at the worst now.

Massive difference between a 3 seeding and a 7/10 seeding in regards to site location.

Is it possible? Yes. Likely, No?

Frankly would welcome the matchup. As much as I enjoyed Hoibergs teams at ISU, TJs current team is the type that would absolutely frustrate the living hell out of them and completely disrupt.

I was told by our local media 10 days ago that ISU was fading and that Iowa was just an Illinois win away from being off the bubble and in the tournament. Turns out they would probably still not be in with 20 wins and we just beat the number one team in America by 30.
You’re welcome!

Also throw in the committee member saying their was 3 teams still in play for the last 1 seed yesterday morning on CBS. I think a lot of people were surprised by that and realized ISU probably has to be one of the 3 teams.

Yes. We definitely moved up in the matchups. But I think the committee will fall back on the #1 seeds were locked in before yesterday. But the placement of those teams had to still be fluid.

Agreed. I’d be shocked if ISU moved up to the 1 seed. I think the conference tournaments are just a prelude of what we can expect from the NCAA tournament: chaos. And it’s going to be fun!

The tournament is going to be a bloodbath this year. Outside of UCONN, I don’t think anyone is a sure bet to get out of the first weekend.
