If they beat Illinois and don't get upset in their first BTT game they are in Dayton at minimum
It's not that simple, Lunardi still has them as the 4th team on "first 4 out", beating Illinois gers them closer but it doesn't guarantee them of anything.

It also depends on what happens during championship week. The A-10 could knock someone out because of Dayton. The American and MVC could all possibly get two bids also.

You can hold out hope but I'd be absolutely shocked if they didn't make it in the scenario of..

Illinois - W
Maryland - W
Nebraska - L

Would require bid stealers for sure.

I really don't see a path to the 1 seed anymore, just not enough games left. We are competing with Tennessee, UNC, and Arizona for that spot and I think their noncon will keep us from jumping them. There aren't really a lot of chances for bad losses left out there Q3/4, with the conference tourney happening on a neutral floor.
Its a long shot, but if Iowa State were to win out, they'd likely be 11-4 or 10-4 in Q1 and 6-2 or 7-2 in Q2.

Arizona only has another Q1 game if they make the Pac 12 tournament. Lets say they do and lose that championship game. They'd be 8-4 in q1, 7-2 in Q2 and have a Q3 loss.

Tennessee has a couple of Q1 games yet, but could lose them. Lets say they split them, then lose their first Q1 opportunity in the SEC tournament. They'd be 7-7 in Q1 and maybe 7-1 or 8-2 in Q2.

Lets assume UNC loses to Duke and loses in the semi's to Clemson. They'd be 6-6 in Q1 and 6-2 in Q2.

Probably also dont' want Duke to run the table. That might get them to 9-3 in Q1 and 6-3 in Q2 and in contention for a 1 seed.

If Houston lost a couple more games, Iowa State could jump them.

Assuming we can win outright, including a B12 championship over Houston, are we likely a 1 seed? I still don’t get some of these rankings putting us as a 3 seed. We should be comfortably a 2.

Most rational people have us as a low end two or high end 3 which feels about right. Going to be very difficult to jump 4-6 teams with only a handful of games left as most resumes won't drastically change. And its unlikely those top 4-7 other teams lose at the pace we would need to jump into the #1 category.

I'm surprised Missouri's ranking is 151. I figured it would be around 200-225
They beat Pitt and Minnesota in the non-con and drilled a bunch of bad teams. They're probably, metrically, ranked about right.

The bottom just fell out.

I would imagine if we somehow finish 5-0 (not likely, but not impossible) and a few other teams falter (guaranteed to happen, 3 SEC teams are in front of us in Net ranking and two are guaranteed at least one loss) we would be top 4 in basically ever metric, B12T champ, and maybe 20% chance of B12 regular season champ.

That would make it a conversation. Maybe 10% chance of that happening and it's dependent on us bringing home one or two pieces of Big 12 hardware but it's possible.

I think that would put them at about 50/50. On their "streak", they have beaten:

A plummeting Wisconsin team at home in OT
A highly questionable Michigan State team on the road
Lost at Illinois by 10
A bad Penn State team by 9
A Northwestern team on the road who was down three starters

Their NET is trending upwards from a bottom of 70, but the above only has them up to a 57 (prior to above, they were 0-8 in Q1, now they're 3-8 assisted by 3 teams that are struggling).

Probably. Sunday is the bellwether game though. Win and I think they’re in as they’ll beat whoever in btt first game. But lose to Illinois and I think they need three wins and they won’t get that.

NW was down three starters.

Thats like saying "Baylor is a Christian Affiliated school and you cant imagine what christians have done in the past!"
Check the LDS history of non-Mormon settlers in Utah. All religions have past histories that people want to whitewash, even mine.

If you don't think the LDS church (of which BYU is an extension) doesn't have AT LEAST Baylor-like skeletons in their closet, I've got a bridge to sell you.

I think my favorite Mormon story is that Mormon polygamy supposedly came about because Joseph Smith and his wife took in a teenage girl as a boarder/servant and Joseph and the girl... well...

Let's just say his wife caught 'em.

Rather than accepting that his goose was well and truly cooked, Joseph thought quickly on his feet (or back I don't know) and declared, "No, this is not adultery! Me and this girl are married!"

That is, isn't this situation a great time to bring back Old Testament polygamy?

Evidently it worked.
