Only guaranteed protection in the first round. It gets hard to slot teams in when there are so many from each conference. It's unavoidable sometimes.
They typically try to avoid it but yeah sometimes it's unavoidable.
Just thinking about that Michigan State game gets my hands clenched in fists of rage. Even hearing the phrase "double-foul" will draw my blood to a boil. I refuse to watch football or basketball if I see that hideous shade of green gracing the screen. I was hoping that Larry Nassar scandal would have taken down Izzo a few years back.

I was curious, so I looked it up- Alabama's defense (101st overall) would be ranked 13th in the Big 12, only ahead of Oklahoma State (122) and West Virginia (132). They're basically Baylor with a worse defense.
Yes, R64 only, and 1-4 seed lines only, as you have stated several times (and a few others have mentioned it).

I think the ones are all but locked up. Even if we win out and beat Houston in KC I don't think the committee will put much stock in it. At this point we are fighting for the 2 seed in the Midwest.
Marquette will lose there next two games and should drop down to a 3 seed and ISU take there spot at #7. Baylor will take the ISU spot at #8.
Glad all the SEC school (outside of Tennessee) are in the 4 seeds. That's where they belong.
Michigan State should not be in. It's stupid that they are rated so high in the NET (they are gaming the system!!!!)
Any chance of a Drake vs Iowa play-in game if Drake doesn't win MVC Tourney?
Yep I think Marquette will lose their next 2 as well and if Kolek doesn't play in the conference tourney the committee has to slide them down the seed line.
I think Drake will be on the wrong side of the bubble if they don't win Arch Madness.

BYU moved up to lock status with a perfect week including the massive when at the Phog. They're up to a 5 seed and trending up.
Texas Tech righted the ship with a double digit road win in Morgantown. They are very close to a lock but probably need just 1 more win to feel safe. They finish with a road game against Oklahoma State and get Baylor at home to close the season.
TCU got outscored by 29 in the second half in Provo. They've dropped to the 9-10 range and are popping up as "Last Four Byes" in many mocks. It would be very wise to win their upcoming road game in Morgantown or things could get really interesting for the Frogs. The 3-10 Q1 record is ugly and something that can be used against P6 teams.
Oklahoma couldn't pull off the upset bid over Houston on Saturday. No shame in that but they are going to want to beat Cincinnati this week at home or things get interesting for them as well.
Texas is close to a lock after a 2-0 week with a big time road win in Lubbock. 1 more win should do it. Can they get Baylor tonight in Waco?
Every game Cincinnati and KState play the rest of the way is "must win." Both are probably 8-10 teams off the cutline at the moment. KState has two major opportunities this week with a road trip to the Phog and hosting ISU in the season finale. Cincinnati has to win in Norman.

Alabama averages 90.9 points per game.
Tennessee and Auburn have top 10 defenses. Alabama has averaged 76.5 points and has a 1-3 record.
If you include Miss State who has a Top 20 defense, they are 3-3 averaging 80 points.
South Carolina is in the 40s and they put up only 74 on them.
None of those "good" SEC defenses force turnovers, though. Missouri has the highest Turnover Defense in the SEC and they are 66th. Tennessee is 72nd, Auburn 82nd, Miss State is 109 and SC is 305.

Michigan St has lost 3 straight. They're starting to feel a little uncomfortable. A huge game at home Wednesday vs a banged up Northwestern bunch. Another loss and they are officially on the bubble.
Northwestern has been hit hard by injuries after losing Ty Berry for the year and Ryan Langborg dealing with an ankle sprain. After dropping a home game to Iowa, they need at least 1 win this week to truly feel safe.
Nebraska got a win over Rutgers last night. They are pretty much a lock but wouldn't want to lose that final game to an atrocious Michigan team. Nothing is for sure with a 1-8 road record in Big 10 play.
Iowa took care of Penn State and grabbed a road win over shorthanded Northwestern. They are officially on the bubble as one of the first 4-6 teams outside the field for now. A huge home game awaits next weekend with Illinois. Win that, they are looking pretty good to at least make Dayton. A loss, and they will likely need a 2-3 day BTT run.
Jake Diebler has given Ohio State new life. Every game is "must win" for the Buckeyes but they finish with a winnable road contest against Rutgers. Win that and they can play their way into the field in Minneapolis with a 2-3 day BTT tourney run. Another shot at Purdue may be in the cards in the Quarterfinals and would provide a major opportunity.
