Boycott Clone Clones

Plus, Jamie could solve all the NIL issues if he just bought enough Clone Cone machines to sell them in a timely fashion at halftime. There should be no reason that I'm 7-8 minutes into the second before I'm able to come back into the game because I've been waiting in a line that stretches 2x around the city of Ames to get a Clone Cone.
You'd better make it worth his while then. You can very easily spend upwards of $20k on a quality foodservice grade soft serve machine. And they are a expensive to keep running.

Yeah if they could cook pizza and just wheel it on a warming tower that would be nice.

Years ago Hyvee had a small area where you could get sandwiches, maybe I was one of the only people to do that.
didn't they also serve pizza by the slice years ago.

Clone cones are now being served in medicine cups. Probably less than half the amount of ice cream as customary. The food selection at Hilton was already bad enough, but this is where I draw the line. Let’s join together and boycott clone cones until we get the normal size back.

I’ll let you put forth your arguments to my 8 year old. Let’s see how they hold up in his court.

Not sure how many clone cones are sold a game but let's say 500 per machine at 7 bucks a pop is 3500 per machine, so I think it is a decent investment.

There is the option for the souvenir basketball cup, which I get each time just for convenience. Plus, a Cyclone BB Game without a Clone Cone (pre-game) is like a day without sunshine.

I avoid concessions at Hilton anymore. It's all become way over priced especially for the small ammount of food you get. Walking taco is like $12 now and I don't care to pay $4.50 or whatever a 20z soda costs.

They had Dominos for awhile and it was horrible. They had a Hy-Vee stand for a few years that had pizza that was good along with some sandwiches too I believe. Hopefully whenever we get around to renovating Hilton that part of that is some new concession options worth buying.

The Hilton project ain't happening unless someone writes a FAT check.

Yeah that is the disappointing thing that the NIL era is now hindering us from being able to do some much needed renovations to some facilities. They had to scrap the new wrestling facility project and how many times have we had Hilton renovations put on hold over the years too. The concessions and concourse at Hilton are long overdue for upgrades. Plus the crumbling South entrance steps are just an embarrassment. With as good as our basketballs teams traditionally are it would be nice if we could do some Hilton renovations to make it more aesthetically pleasing. The lighting, new scoreboard and sound system were nice updates but still a lot of other things that are long overdue for updates too.

Every time I walk up those stairs I just shake my head. I would think the cost of the lawsuit from someone falling on them would be more than the cost to just fix them. The concessions are horrible, and I’d honestly have professionals working the stand for the price of food- it feels like it should be far cheaper than it is with volunteer labor.

The steps are such an embarrassing eyesore IMO. That is literally the front door to your experience at Hilton and if it was your first time visiting it's not a great 1st impression. Even if the major concourse renovations are put on hold indefinitely would think we could find some money to replace the crumbling steps which wouldn't be nearly the cost investment as the other renovations that were once planned.

I waited in line for 20 minutes at the concessions last game for a bottled water only to get to the register for them to tell me they were out of water. OUT OF WATER. I'm now just done with ISU concessions in general.

My husband and I and many of our friends worked Hilton concessions in the ‘70’s. The pay was decent for the ‘70’s. I also did tours twice a week and was guaranteed four hours of pay. Got to hear a lot of great concerts and watch some bad basketball.

The suppliers and kitchen made sure we were never out of items.

Rarely did we have people missing the second half of a game because they were standing in the concession line

This right here. Lean into it & get more machines. How many people decide not to buy them so they don't miss the game? I've made the decision not to buy many a time for this reason.
We went to the game right before Christmas, and my kids wanted Clone cones. We go like once a year, so I say yes. My husband waited in line for ice cream while I went to another concession stand for water and a giant pretzel. My husband was still waiting in line when we were walking back, so I volunteer to wait and he takes the kids to our seats. I waited in line until there was like 8 minutes left in the game, get 6 people away from the concession stand, only to be told that they were out of ice cream. We seriously waited like 40 minutes total and still didn't get any ice cream. I only did it because my kids are little and they wanted a stupid Clone cone so much. We ended up getting Baskin Robbins on the way home. Never again will I wait in that stupid line.

The games over break are always a concessions nightmare.
