***Bowl Games Thread***

No, having tOSU anywhere near the playoff is total nonsense. The big 10 decided to virtue signal by being the first to cancel college football instead of having a little patience like the B12, sec, and Acc. And they followed that up with bad decision after bad decision, like virtue signaling again by doubling the CDC quarantine recommendations.

tOSU is no doubt a top 5 team but the big 10 did not deserve a team in a playoff. This whole process exposed the committee for the corrupt entity it is. Remember the whole reason we have a big 12 championship is the “lack of data points” that screwed 2 of our teams to benefit, oh tOSU.
tOSU deserved the bid and proved it on the field. Maybe you should concentrate your ire against the committee giving the ACC 2 bids and they both got their doors blown off.

Neither Notre Dame or Ohio State deserved to get a bid. Ohio State at least proved afterward that they belong.
Hopefully this year pushes the 8 team playoff argument. IMO CFB never has a enough quality OOC matchups even in normal years to truly determine a best conference or team.

P5 champs and 3 at large. Then basically there are no legit arguments. Wish they had the balls to go that route this year because the year of COVID almost made it a necessity to get a fair representation this year

They didn't deserve to be there, but anything can happen if you actually get a chance to play the games. That's actually why it's crazy they are allowed to be there at all--they forfeited--excuse me opted out--of playing a game they by rule should have played.

Anything could have happened, but instead of risking losing, they simply decided not to play.

If they suddenly get covid before the champion game and can't play, should we just crown them national champs as well, since any game they don't play is an assumed win?

The tOSU knob gobbling and old school BCS attitude of "as long as what we think are the best 2 teams play, then it's a perfect national championship" attitude are garbage and devalue actually playing games.

Agree with this. Because after their dismantling of the SEC runner up, one could say Oklahoma "deserved" to be in the CFP. I think the biggest change needs to be get rid of the ranking system. Because teams like Alabama and Clemson never have to play their way "into" the CFP......just play their way out because of their initial ranking at the beginning of the season.

The covid season has actually exposed a lot of the negatives.

This thread is all sorts of fail. The Big 10 is the weakest its been since I can remember. Who exactly would Ohio St have lost to this year? Illinois? Lol. 2-4 Michigan? Lol. Maryland?? Give me a break.

Iowa with Spencer Petras who can't hit the broad side of a barn?? Laughable.

Even if they would have gotten upset somewhere they still make the playoffs with one loss. You can be angry at the Big 10 for changing rules to fit them, but there is no doubt they are one of the best 4 teams in the country, doesn't matter if they were 6-0 or 11-1.

That's probably where I'm at the most...their conference changed the rule to fit a brand name to get them a last impression when they would not have done the same for pretty much anyone else. It was a stupid rule among other stupid Covid-related rules they threw together and the B1G should have been further exposed for their incompetency.

That said I think they have a legit shot at beating Bama but I think OU would too with their recent play. That's not a push for OU to be in the CFP as much as it is for expanding the CFP.

Yeah, Im all for an 8 game playoff. Five conference champions and 3 at-large bids.

Are they one of the 4 best? What about OU? Were Clemson or ND ever even that good? No OOC games to really gauge it. Just their preseason rankings, which we've seen proven are unreliable (see: penn state, michigan)

The system is badly, badly flawed, and was completely exposed for that and outright corruption this season.

Yes it does. It’s called playing a season. Maybe the kc chiefs should have stopped playing games halfway through and just waited for the super bowl.

I dont like them anymore then you do, but there is no doubt they were one of the Top 4 teams in college football this year. The selection committee got it right.

I'm not really arguing that it wasn't flawed, or the Big 10 changed its rules to fit Ohio St. My argument has more to do with some of the posters who pretend Ohio St would have had a bunch of losses had they played a full schedule.

They normally steamroll the Big 10 in normal years when Wisconsin, Michigan, and Penn State are Top 15 programs. The Big 10 was a complete dumpster fire this year and now all of a sudden they would have had 2 or 3 losses in this of all seasons?

We win today and the Big 12 is undefeated. We need Indiana to lose or else Big 10 is also undefeated outside of the National Championship.

Maybe. maybe Clemson laid an egg. Maybe Alabama will beat Ohio State like a rented mule. Who else should've been in there? aTm (lost by 30 to Bama)? Cincinnati (crap schedule, lost to Georgia, who got whooped by Bama)? Oklahoma (two losses - one to K-State)? Florida (no)? Iowa State (3 losses)?

There are always blowouts in the semifinals.

They need to either extend to 8 teams or go back to just two.
