I would rather have seen Cincy vs Bama after today's games. I don't think they would have won but they looked decent even with a L today.

Is it to pick the best 4 teams based on resume? Then no.
Is it to pick the best 4 teams, regardless of resume? Then yes, but that makes the regular season meaningless and is open to a lot more 'eye test' ********.
I just don't think people realize, that what this game does is give the CFP committee a free ticket to put anyone they want in the CFP regardless of record or season results. Who you play doesn't matter, your record doesn't matter, whether you follow rules doesn't matter. All that matters is the name of your program.

Eh, the dickery the Big 10 and Pac 12 pulled should have disqualified them from the playoff. Clearly OSU is one of the 4 best teams, but going rogue and then trying to nudge their way back in should have kept them out.

For better or worse that’s pretty accurate. It sucks if you have a great year and want an equal chance, but history feeds the narrative and perceptions.
Benefit of doubt shouldn’t have a role in rankings, but everybody has a bias and there is no perfect way of objectivity comparing teams that haven’t played each other in the regular season so unavoidable.

Who should have been in ahead of OSU? Texas A&M was 1-1 vs the last CFP top 25. OSU was 2-0. A&M played more games but people want to reward A&M for getting more games in vs unranked teams.
