Bowl Game

Can you go ahead of any team in your conference order if you have 6 wins and they have more?

How bout we just win out, no sarcasm pirate. And its no longer kool-aid drinking, this team and this staff is for real

I may just be a stick in the mud. But how bout we just win one more. Everyone needs to stop sounding like hawkeyes fans and proclaiming conference titles and championships. i love the Cyclones but the season is not even close to being over yet. And the schedule is not a cake walk by any means. they could win some of those games and they are capable of losing them all! But go Clones! I do want to go bowling!

Following is the selection order:

Looks like there are 9 teams that could get to the 6 wins. It also does not look like there will be two BCS teams from the conference. So if there are 9 eligible someone will get left out.

Not sure if there are any 'at large' bowl spots left anymore. Even if there are I'm not sure a 6 win team can fill them. We need to get to 7 wins. A healthy Robinson would help, help a lot. I think if he would have stayed healthy we might already be 7-1.

That's assuming all of the other BCS conferences are able to fill their bowl obligations. I doubt the Big East will fill theres and maybe even the ACC. Time will tell.

I really like the chances of making a Bowl after today. This is the unexpected win we needed. I love the improvement that is being made and the results show on the field as the season progresses.

Well, what if we only win one more...a dream date of 6-6 ISU against a 6-6 Auburn in Shreveport III??? I am in.

Sometimes it is better to fill the extra slot from another conference than the slot you have to...Humanitarian anyone?

There are a few at-large spots. There are also always spots in bowls that conferences cannot fill because they don't have enough bowl eligible teams.

The Big XII bowl picture is interesting. There is a very good chance that the North will have more bowl teams than the south:

Already Eligible:
Texas
Oklahoma State

Need 1 win:
ISU (Colorado is most likely chance)
Kansas (Texas Technical or Missouri are most likely chances; they could end up 5-7)
Texas Technical (Baylor)

Need 2 wins:
KSU (Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska are best chances)
Nebraska (Baylor & Colorado)
Missouri (Baylor & Colorado)
Oklahoma (KSU, Nebraska, and A&M are best chances)
Texas A&M (Baylor & Colorado)

Try again next year:
Baylor
Colorado

There could be up to ten bowl eligible teams in this conference! That would certainly leave someone out - but - any bowl committee in their right mind would pick a 6-6 ISU team over a 6-6 KU or KSU or Missouri team in a heartbeat. The best bet is to win 7 or 8 games and/or to hope that if we're 6-6 we have the same record as KU, KSU, or Missouri, and not Oklahoma & Nebraska.

Actually, there is one more bowl agreement for the Big 12, but I am not sure on how it ties into the entire picture. Sept. 30, the yankees and the Big East and Big 12 conference announced a new bowl tie that will match the big east #4 vs the big 12 #7 team in New York in yankee stadium sometime between Christmas and New Years Day. That game could definitely be on our radar. Big 12 commissioner implies on a video clip you can watch on Big12sports.com that the conference now has 9 bowl slots, but I really haven't heard anything definitive. Anyone else have info on the New York bowl?

Don't think the Yankee Bowl starts until 2010.

I think if Texas makes the BCS Championship game and OSU wins out (except for Texas), the B12 will get 2 teams in the BCS. Having a team in the BCS championship game usually guarantees 2 BCS teams from the same conference.

I don't think OSU will make the BCS inless USC beats Oregon and Oregon were to lose another game, Penn St. loses to Ohio St. and Ohio St. loses to Iowa, TCU loses to Utah,Va Tech loses another game.Right now most projections have a Pac 10 and a Big 10 team as getting the 2 extra spots inthe BCS. I think the ACC and TCU would be the next spots based on the rankings. I hope ISU gets to 7 wins because I think that it gets them to a bowl somewhere regardless if its in the Big 12 agreement or not
