Minny 247 reporter Ryan James broke down Gach’s final 5.

ISU
“Returning Guard/Wing Starters: One, Rasir Bolton. Bolton transferred from Penn State and gave the Cylones nearly 15 points a game. Prentiss Nixon has graduated while Tyrese Haliburton is looking like a Lottery Pick in the NBA Draft.
Returning Guards/Wings: Iowa State had three guards/wings that played off the bench but all three transferred. Therefore there is one returning backcourt player on the team.
Incoming Guards/Wings: Memphis transfer Tyler Harris is hoping to receive a waiver to play next year while Jalen Coleman-Lands will be one of the best graduate transfers additions in the nation. Iowa State has also added depth for the freshmen class by signing a one, two, and three for next season with wing Dudley Blackwell being the most talented of the bunch.
The Need: Right now Iowa State has one point guard on their roster, freshman Jaden Walker. Bolton could play lead guard but most feel he would be better at shooting guard. Both Gach wants to handle the ball and ISU could offer him that chance, especially if Harris doesn't get his waiver approved and Both does (Gach's hometown of Austin, Minnesota is two hour saway from Ames). Iowa State needs experience in the backcourt joining Coleman-Lands and Bolton, and they may give Gach the best chance to handle the ball.“

If we got Both Gach and Harris immediately eligible to go with JCL and Johnson not to mention the returners and freshman I’m feeling pretty dang good about this team.

I just hope assuming Young starts, this staff can implement a zone “Twin Towers” defense for Foster and Conditt off the bench.

Will be interesting to see Prohm’s fallback plan if Gach goes to the Gophers. Still think Nike Sibande should be a target.

I am starting to get think ISU could benefit from the NCAA sanctions on schools involved in the Adidias trial like OSU. We are still waiting for the ruling on KU, LSU, Zona, and NC St.

Who knows the timeline or what the NCAA ultimately decides but if they give post season bans to any of the schools we could see some high level immediate eligible transfers become available.

True, but we are running short on months.

KU ruling won’t happen for awhile since it’s going to the independent panel. They basically start over and do their own investigation. Then have hearings and then a decision.

I know I have heard the coaching staff felt very good about this one earlier in the week. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I think a lot of Gach's decision comes down to whether or not Minnesota's PG is going to withdraw from the draft or not.. If he does withdraw, Gach is most likely ours. If he doesn't, he's definitely going to Minnesota.

The best likelihood Both gets a waiver is based on the proximity of his school choice. That's why Iowa State and Minnesota are the front runners (known).
