And the Great Horned Owl owlets of the Twin Cities most famous owl pair finally branched on Monday. They seemed like they were never going to leave the nest.
I stood looking at some bushes hearing one of these but never seeing it for a silly amount of time this weekend

Keep the sparrows away. I have lost too many bluebird eggs and even young bluebirds to those bastards over the years.
I generally hate all of the advertising spam that pops into my social media feeds but have to admit this might be a good birding t-shirt.
I put up my new feeder yesterday for the time. We’ll see if I can attract any orioles.
Little screech looked like it was sticking its tongue out and giving me the raspberry. I am positive it was just trying to unsuccessfully cough up an owl pellet. From last month in the Twin Cities.
Spotted my first red headed woodpecker today in the backyard.
She weathered 3 inches of rain and wicked winds last night. Not a sturdy structure. Lilac bush.

Seems like the migration is about to hit full swing. Seen orioles, warblers, wax wings, vireos, king birds, yellow throats over the last few days.
Lately I keep having Merlin hear some kind of new warbler. I think I spot it. I take a photo but can't tell for sure when I'm out. I get home and download the camera and it's one of these guys saying "oh yeah look at that yellow rump"

That Tanager got my attention as the plumage is atypical for a Scarlet and more like a Summer. Did it have blackish wings, or was there hints of red in the wings?
