Big12 Tournament Takeaway

My takes from the Big 12 tourny: too many games back to back make for a poor Championship game due to fatigue, Peterson from KU held himself out of the regular season and was going to shine in the tournaments to solidify his draft status and it's not working as he is losing money daily. This post season tournament tv dollar revenue has lost it's value as the seedings are based on the regular season (why risk injury to Lipsey or any other key player?). I can see this regressing to the level of the too many Bowl games and Professional All-Star games demise in value.

UCONN and this Duke team don’t belong in that group either IMO. Truth is, you have two conferences where you know what you have cause you’ve seen it night after night for the last month. And you have two conferences where you just don’t know how good the top teams are because they haven’t been tested.

Don't have an issue with Duke being a #1 seed. I haven't seen them play much this year but impressed by play during the ACC Tournament and they are a solid defensive team. If I were to question a #1 seed it would be UConn.

I would go with: Arizona, Duke, Michigan and Houston as #1's. Then have Florida, Iowa State, St Johns and Mich State as #2's.

Nah. Florida is a #1 seed. Lock it in. Of all the teams in the tournament, they're the one I least want to see in my region.

I don’t see the big 12 getting two 1s. I would flip Houston and Florida in your groups. That give 1s to 4 conferences.

Probably. But Florida laid an egg in SEC Tournament, even though they finished regular season strong. Just think Houston had a great season, no real ups & downs. And played a really good Big12 Tournament, no shame losing to Arizona.

I look at St Johns and Florida's seasons and very similar. Talented & highly touted teams coming into season but struggled during Nov/Dec. Then came on strong during conference play. The difference is St. Johns won the Big East in dominating fashion, while Florida tanked in SEC Tournament.

But the other reality, not sure it matters a ton being among top 3 seeds.
