Big XII vs. Big 10

I'm amazed that people care about this sort of thing still.
Lets see how Michigan would do without Stauskis, and how MSU would do without Payne. The Big 12s top two teams had their most important players injured right at tourney time. But just keep believing ESPN mr dickie V jr!

The top teams in the Big 10 are better then the top teams in the Big 12. The Big 12 overall was the better conference.

7 teams in the Big 12 with an average seed of 5.86
6 teams in the Big 10 with an average seed of 6.00

Since the Big 12 had better seeding, it should have done better in the tourney than the Big 10.

This would be a great point if Michigan weren't missing their pre-season All American and Michigan State has a couple guys that are barely to the point of healthy.

Head to head, the Bix XII owned the Bix X this year. The only wins the Bix X earned were in the tourney, and let's be honest Baylor laid an egg last night. The Bix X sucks as always and forevermore.

Again, the top teams in the Big 10 are better then the top teams in the Big 12. Big 12 was still the better conference.

Parity isn't the same as better. There really is no leg to stand on when we have 0 teams playing and another conference has 3 out of the 8 teams still left, with a chance to advance all of them to the Final Four.

So the SEC is better then the Big 12 and Pac 12?

You do realize the Big 12 has a losing record vs the Big 10 both OOC and in the tournament, right?

1-2 against the big ten in the tournament

3-4 against the big ten OOC

Not to mention, the big 12 was something like 2-11 overall vs the big 10 last year

Huge reason the Big 10 has (and will continue to have) more success in the tournament over the big 12 is coaching. Its much better overall in the big 10. When two of your annual tournament teams from you conference are coached by Travis Ford and Scott Drew, you're not going to compete with guys like Izzo and Ryan. As of right now, I think its Self and Hoiberg...then a pretty big gap between them and the rest of the Big 12 coaches.

I'm not sure how you can utter Izzo and Ryan in the same sentence.

As much as I hate to admit it as a Big XII fan, it is pretty clear the Big 10 ended up being the better league the last few years. They have 3 - Elite 8 teams compared to zero for the Big XII.

Makes me really, really sad.

So you're a hawk. I explained this to one if my tavern hawk friends that were trying to gain self esteem from the other teams.

The big ten had three great teams, the average teams, and six mediocre to bad teams. Congrats on the three good teams being fortunate enough to survive.

Of course they tried to justify how bad Iowa was by how "tough" your conference was, but iu sucked, ill sucked, psu sucked, and nw sucked.

Baylor was horrible yesterday, but they abused your fourth place team. So they weren't bad.

You got breaks, Oregon got bent over, mich was good enough to overcome their coacHing. And msu got fortunate top win their last two games. Good for them, they won, but not awesome to think they dominated.

How did they have better seeding? Ksu and okie state were 9 seeds, supposed to lose. Only Kansas didn't live up to their seed, other than ou ALL the rest of the teams played to their seed.

I know the horrible Iowa fans are trying to cling for dear life to the idea that somehow they matter because there were three good teams in that league. But 4 through 6 got beaten in the first round, and the rest of the conference was mediocre to outright bad.

last few years? That is ignorant, the Big 10 has had some very lean years in the past 10. The Big 12 has had some great ones. Give the Big 12 Cobbins, Niang, and Embiid, and they get 3 in the Elite 8 too.

The Big Ten had the "better" elite teams at the top. I put better in quotation marks because I think a healthy KU and ISU in the tourney is a completely different story.

Where the Big 12 separated itself was with its depth (and not below average depth like Iowa's bench). Double round robin was a gauntlet.

If we're talking about the tournament, the SEC is the best. Finally lost a game (their 4th place team) last night and by 2 points to the Big Ten champ. No one is going to argue that they are the best conference. You can't use the tournament to judge the best conference. I'd say the same if it was reversed and the Big 12 had 3 in the Elite 8 and the Big 10 had none. Injuries happen and good/bad match-ups happen. The Big 10 finally beat a higher seeded team last night, so it's not like it wasn't expected. It would have actually taken an upset for it NOT to have happened (outside of MSU, which I already mentioned).

Not so sure about the better elite teams. They don't have anyone that compares to a healthy KU. Their champ lost to us WITH McGary, who would have been their best player (preseason 1st team AP all-American).

You hit the nail on the head with the double round-robin. Wisconsin, for example, didn't have to go to Ohio State or Michigan State. Imagine if we didn't have to go to Kansas or Oklahoma.
