I dont know why everybody is so worried about scholarship numbers. The next person to commit (Kelm?) will take Brackins scholly.... he won't be here his senior year, that much is clear (just hope he is back for his Jr. year!).
So, if Barnes and/or Ejim commits.... do you guys really think we won't have an open scholly in the next 2 years? Just look at our record on player turnover, I am sure we will lose at least 1 or 2 players in the next 2 years.

IMO that doesn't work any better than taking a kid with great basketball skills and trying to make him into a great athlete. GMAC needs to find skilled athletes. Sure schools like KU or Duke will get the cream of the crop, but there are enough athletic basketball players to go around that a school like ISU can put together a competitive program.
Justin is not Jared Homan, but I think there are good comparisons to make. They were both pressed into playing alot their freshman seasons. We seem to remember Jared as a senior and what he could do offensively, but he really struggled as a freshman, often because he was in foul trouble because he was so agrressive, yet not strong enough to do it with his body. I have seen huge growth from Justin this year. He is more aggressive than I thought he would be going to the hole on clean-up and put backs. I see he is even trying to slam things instead of going up soft. He has been blocked a ton, simply because he doesn't have the strength he needs yet. With the pace of that development, I think we have great things to come.
I would love to have another player of similar style on the floor. That player would not replace Brackins. Face it, Brackins is a once in a great while type talent. We also need good athletic big men, but I wouldn't have a problem with another Justin.
Maybe I'll be wrong, but I don't see Kelm giving us anything that Dykstra doesn't already and that is not good enough out of the 4 spot to get us to the top of the Big 12. I would take Kelm, but only after we whiff on some other kids.
MCD needs to win and win now. using a scholly on someone like that would be too much of a risk
There tend to be open scholarships most years at ISU for some reason. I think it will all work its way out. There is a player or 2 on this team that wont be in 2 years.
I like these kind of bigs. Guys who are maybe a little undersized centers, but are versitile and can step outside. i can see a line up down the road with Ejim, Dykstra and Kelm on the floor at the 3,4,5 :yes:
The funny part about all this is Leron Dendy and another Chicago point guard who is outstanding both want to come to ISU in 2009. The problem is we are out of schollarships. Then in 2010 we are trying like hell to get players. Hopefully we won't whiff on either Ejim or Harrison. I think we need one of them to be wearing Clone gear. I would rather wait on Kelm and bank that ship for 2011. I heard there are some great players in 2011-2012 out of the state of Iowa.
Kelm's best offers are ISU and Marq. Marq has not shown much if any interest lately. ISU is not that excited about him. Kelm would take an offer from UW in a second but that appears unlikely to happen. Kelm is more of a mid major/major recruit than someone KU goes after.

Kelm is playing you cyismydog. No way do we give him a scholly at this point in the game. Not when we have no serious competition for his services, AND we have bigger fish in EJIM/HB
