Big Man Options Next Year

When was the last time ISU had a big like this?

Please don't say McKay. He needed all sorts of stuff going on to get his.
The better question is when has the other team had a big take over against Iowa State when we have been to small to stop them? The answer to my question is more recent than yours.

Play your best 5. If that results in small-ball, so be it. If Kunc returns you can get by with a lineup of King and Kunc playing the 4 and 5 at 6'7 and 6'8. Spaces the floor.

Well good for you but has ISU had general recent success without a true big?

And that still doesn't answer the question anyway. ISU has not had a dominant big since...Homan?

I was gonna go slightly more recently and say Jiri

Brackins, White, and Lard when playing at his best was dominant.

Royce says “hi” and would appreciate your vote

I guess when he said true big I didn't think of White, the point forward. Brackins didn't come to mind either as he was more front facing, jump shooting, never really the "big" on the teams he was on etc.

Lard does fit the bill though

Lard was terrible.

I agree, BUT, to space the floor you need shooters and dribble penetration guys. We are in short supply. Portal time!

Lard had some great natural ability but I fon't recall a time when he was reliable enough to carry the team.

I would have enjoyed having Lard on this team...I think this could have been his super senior year also...to bad

Except Jones actually gets rebounds
His rebounding rate is slightly better on defense, worse on offense, and worse overall than Conditt's.

Edit: Past few games now have them basically tied overall. So still, Jones does not rebound the ball better.

Yeah, terrible was harsh. He was certainly serviceable when he was staying out of foul trouble. Not dominant though.

I beg to differ
