Big 12 statement about rushing field.....

It's a reasonable statement. The last thing you want is a brawl between the ISU student section and the opposing team. That would be a disaster.

Another pro-active way to avoid brawls and potentially horrible fan behavior…don’t erase 50 yard touchdowns for absolutely no rational reason.

Things potentially get reeeeeeeeeeal ugly if OK State gets a turnover after the stolen points.

"We had an incident in Saturday’s game where a student confronted one of the Oklahoma State players. That student was arrested and ejected from the stadium. We can’t have that happen. That’s like putting gas on a fire."

I didn't realize this had happened. Makes a lot more sense why the conference felt they needed to say something

At the same time, its evidence the procedures in place worked.

Maybe Bowlsby should've worked on not ruining the conference for a decade when he had the chance to grab other schools. Instead he pissed it down our leg and the future of the Big 12 is uncertain and could be a disaster. Maybe Bowlsby should address one of the worst calls ever that just happened against us by point shaving refs. Bowlsby can eat a d*ck because he's what's wrong with the Big 12. Instead he just wants to nitpick against ISU over a non-issue.

I thought the protection for players was poorly implemented. There were true police officers forming a channel to the locker room, but hired security folks trying to control the actual field storm. The students flowed on to the field in the space between the police officers and the hired security folks.

I wonder if it would be better for all of them to form some sort of "flying wedge" around the visiting team and move them as a group to the locker room pathway.

Or create some sort of line that funnels the students south of the visiting players and assists the visiting players toward the locker room along a curved path that moves them toward the center of the field (away from the student section, toward the band, and then to the locker room).

If we don’t end up scoring there and lose that game, there would of been situation like Ole Miss-Tenn or worse. That ref would of needed an armored car. I’m not saying it’s right but it’s a fact. It would have completely hit the fan.

I can see that perspective. On the other hand, Pollard's own words would indicate that they didn't, though. If something that "can't happen" does happen, that's an acknowledgement that your procedures need improvement.

Agree. The two luckiest persons when we did score were the ref who made the horrible call and Bowlsby. Depending on how the season ends, that poor call could have taken millions of dollars from ISU and given to OSU.

I don’t see anything wrong with what Bowlsby said. It’s better than fining us $250k like the SEC does.

That said, is there anyone better than barfing up a word salad without actually saying anything than Bob Bowlsby?

I said the south side, not the south end zone.

Also, Pollards comment on the radio show last night all but confirms that they will be moved, and my guess is it comes with the reseating next year.
What did Jamie say?

No issues with the statement. I was on the NE corner and they could have easily given more time to let the OSU fans get out of the way....it was the most polite storming we've seen in awhile lol. Probably because the fanbase seems to respect OSU pretty well.

“It’s absolutely critical we protect that visiting team. The way we’re set up makes it a challenge.”

That was in reference to the Iowa State students seated in sections by which the visiting team must pass to get to their locker room.

“We still have a ways to go,” Pollard said. “We’re very vulnerable. We had an incident in Saturday’s game where a student confronted one of the Oklahoma State players. That student was arrested and ejected from the stadium. We can’t have that happen. That’s like putting gas on a fire.

“I wouldn’t want our players and our coaches put in a similar spot. Our situation is somewhat unique in how it’s set up.

“We’ve got to continue to do our best. We’ve got to look at it and see what we can continue to do.”

Two weeks ago, Tennessee fans threw objects on the field in the final moments of the game against OIe Miss. The Rebels won 31-26.

“We value our brand in this program and at this institution too much to let that happen,” Pollard said. “We’ve improved greatly, but we’re far from perfect.”

This plays a role, most likely. Imagine the shitstorm it would be if we rushed the field after the Texas game in two weeks.

Moving the students from the NE corner to the SE corner would solve most of the problems I'd think.
What about the folks that have Suites between the decks over there? maybe they won't mind or care.
