Big 12 on TNT/HBO Max

Bare with me through this prologue. Fandom is psychologically fascinating. The most popular sport in the world is, by American standards, really boring. But then, why is it the most popular sport? Having played it at almost every level throughout my life, early on even I could attest to its boredom. BUT, then I started to watch the game 'within' the game (the part I was really good at). That's where it gets much more interesting. But, it's easier in soccer to do that because outside of spacing and gaps, soccer focuses around the ball. Football is different, but no less interesting 'off the ball'.

We're constantly hearing about CMC saying "Be the best version of yourself". Therein lies the 'interest' of playing inferior opponents in football; the game within the game. So that, along with doing anything I can to boost the B12, is why I'll be watching this bahhh schedule. Imagine a strong enough movement where every B12 fan is watching these games. In 2 hours, we would change the landscape. Don't even get me started on gambling 'within' the game or how AI is going to impact viewer experience. It's mind boggling where this is all going. And, I believe we have the right man leading the conference to exploit the dynamics of future viewing.
That’s the kind of ability to make connections that makes me want to light up a doobie. :D

Just giving you a hard time. Carry on.

Will be nice if these streaming platforms actually broadcast in 4K. It's crazy that in 2025 everything is still so low resolution.

This is going to be great. The production value is going to be amazing, kinda wish they would rope in Netflix next. then, 2030 comes around and we're in a better position for more money... hopefully.
Are we sure about that? WBD is absolutely broke and they're losing the vast majority of their production staff to Amazon with the NBA contract moving.

I hope they're well done but definitely a wait and see deal.

I'm sure it all depends on how this season goes for them. I'd imagine it could re-spark some talent. then again... maybe get some up and comers? idk.

Obvious regulatory issues to overcome. I wouldn't mind if all games were broadcast on these networks if it keeps the Big12 strong.

Media companies all agree that spreading out content across multiple platforms generates the most money. While I would much prefer all my content coming from one place, I also realize there would be a major discount to the passports if that were to happen, plus the rush of putting too many eggs in any one basket. The foreseeable future is paying for four or five apps in order to watch the Cyclones.

This potentially has MASSIVE implications for Big 12 media rights moving forward!

It’s probably good for big 12 sports but I really worry about movie/tv content given the quality of films from WB and series from hbo is infinitely higher than the slop Netflix churns out. WB is my neighborhood so my career and financial situation is tied up in it too, probably a boost short term but I’m skeptical long term that it will grow entertainment industry, probably will lower quality and contract it in long run.

If HBO content drop to the Netflix quality, the world losses! I agree 1000%

It's also the end of cinemas. Netflix isn't putting anything in theatres for more than the couple weeks required for awards

I haven't "been to a movie" since The Last Jedi.. It too expensive to take the family to a movie.

Give me a $25/mo subscription for anytime, all the time access, and in the comfort of my home.

My sympathies on that last movie you had to see.

In terms of Netflix being the "winning bidder" we will see if this survives all the legal and other challenges that are forthcoming.

There isn’t a cheap movie day near you?
