Big 12 - G6?

If you’re going to dredge this up at least know your ****. The power 5 status is part of ncaa bylaws. These are the 5 conferences that have autonomy status.

So...the MWC isn't going to jump the Big12 and make it the 6th conference on the outside looking in?

The BIG 12 has autonomy status and can only relinquish that status if it votes to do so or the league dissolves. Only 4 other conferences have autonomy status Big10, SEC, ACC, Pac12

Future bowl and TV payout will be telling to a point but the reason the best of the AAC joined us and not the other way around is because of the autonomy status.

I can see an argument if you're going to classify it a power 2 and a middle 3. But to think the new Big12 is at least not on par or above the PAC and ACC is crazy. The Big10 and SEC have clearly established themselves as a tier ahead, there's no arguing that. But that doesn't mean college athletics are doomed for all but the top 30 teams.
Competitively I think it may be. Have you seen the projections for the B1G media money? Upwards of 100 mil per school.

Thanks, very helpful.

Next years Big 12 has 5/12 currently ranked. PAC has 1/14. ACC (inc. ND) has 3/14. Big 12’s TV ratings are better.

Yet somehow people think there’s going to be some big separation of TV $ or status between the Big 12 and these other two conferences?
