I like to get my BBQ recommendations from a Lawn Care site. Interestingly enough, I do get my lawn advice from a College FB forum, so maybe this checks out?

If you are traveling through Georgia, stop here in Valdosta just off the interstate. The Smokin' Pig Restaurant. I swear to god this place is amazing. They claim to be the Top 10 BBQ in the country (I don't know what that's based on). It's damn good. Their website is a little weird but I will leave this here. I bought two massive boxes of the BBQ sauce to use on my meat and people are constantly like "where did you get that sauce?". You're welcome.

In the KC Area it goes Q39 and Slaps followed by everyone else. Both of those places are elite

Another place we really like in the KC is Jones Bar-B-Q. Its out in an industrial park area on Kaw Dr. Open Tues-Sat 11-3pm or until food runs out. Its a little ciderblock building in a parking lot. Outdoor picnic tables or to-go.

Do they even have BBQ in Omaha? When we lived there, there were no good, authentic options. My first day at work, I asked “What’s the best bbq place in town?” “Uhhhh, Famous Dave’s?” I knew then I was in trouble.
10-15 years ago, no Omaha had barely anything. It has got better over the last 5-10 years.

Smokey D's is better than Jack Stack. Jack Stack is overrated IMO.

Jack Stack is far superior to anything in DSM...not sure why the hate. I've had great BBQ at the Freight House and Lee's Summit locations many times. I would personally pick Q39 but it would be close. Also, can't forget about Joe's at least for the experience.

You just have to be prepared for little saucers of sauce and tablecloths.
I think Jack Stack has the best beans on the planet. Frequently get onion ring tower too.

Everyone knows places like Bryants, Gates (trash), and Jack Stack overrated. But Slaps has to be the most overrated joint in town. Burnt ends are meh and the sides are terrible. It's not that it's bad, I just don't get the rave reviews.

Q39, Joes, Danny Edwards (my joint...best burnt ends and fries in town), Blind Box (good Q, meh sauce, probably the best sides), the Junction (though the last time I went it was meh), and Lueck's are the best (Roscoes and Little BBQ Joint are also solid). On the last one, Lueck's has the best pulled pork I've ever had (most pulled pork is rarely terrible or great). It's carry out only and kind of "hidden" (downtown Grandview) but it's definitely worth a try.

I've had some really good meals at Jack Stack also. The shrimp appetizer is outrageous. I would put the sliced pork at Bryant's almost anything at Gates above anything I've had in Des Moines. Q39 is great, but I just don't get the over the top love.

Hawg Jaw in North KC is also great. The smoked pastrami is worth the trip, but Biemers in Lawrence is my favorite in the area. Always grabbed it when I was in town.

Not true. Kue'd is 1000k better than Jack Stack, and they might possibly have the best sides (combo of quality and price) of any joint I've been too. The ability to get 2 sides for 3 dollars (where the same portion and quality would be 8 or 9 at JS) is an absolute steal. Kued undercharges for their sides...they could double the charge and it would still be solid restaurant value.

Roscoes is solid and I also used to like Woodyard a lot.

Also not sure why Overland Park is even on this list. OP only has Q39 south, Brobecks (solid but not the best), and the Burnt End (solid but also not top notch).
