Best Advice You Ever got

I was kind of a worrier as a little kid and my Dad told me:
"If it isn't going to matter 5 years from now, it's not a big deal."

I'll add one from life experience: Never by the house at the bottom of the hill. Water flows down.

Don't get your wants and needs mixed up. Dad would always say:

"If you want it, you probably don't need it. If you need it, you probably don't want it."

"Make sure your gas tank isn't on E."

- my dad's advice when we were nine months pregnant with daughter #1 living in Chicago.

My dad told me when I was leaving for college: "Everyone has 3 pillars in their life: People around you, the places you go and the things you do. When you go to college all 3 change at once - the sooner you can re-find your pillars the sooner you'll be happy and successful." That's been true my whole life through moving to new locations and changes in my career.

My dad liked to say "Respect shouldn't have to be earned. It should be given upfront. It's up to them to keep it or lose it."

"Remember where you came from"

"Everyone is weird. Some are just a little more weird than others."
