Best Advice You Ever got

The one I like to tell my son: “don’t point your finger at someone. When you do, there is only one finger pointed at them, but three are pointed back at yourself”

It’s easy to blame others. But in most cases there was something you could had done differently so the situation didn’t arise or maybe wouldn’t had been so bad

After complaining to my father about how busy I was taking my kids to various activities...he gently said "why aren't you viewing that as time you get to spend with your kids"! I took that as the advice he intended it to be! While the calendar still gets hectic...it sure as heck put a positive spin on all that rushing around! Going to miss it one day for sure!

After my Dad passed when I was 19, my mom told me that she didn’t want me to take over the farm because I felt obligated to. She told me to do what I wanted to do. I took a year off from going to ISU to help my dad on farm, but his sudden passing, I decided to go to college. I figured if I stayed home I would just dwell on his passing which would not be good for me.

First time I ever saw my mom cry was when I left for Ames that fall.

Confidence is key, too many people think they can't do something and give up. Wish someone told me that before I gave up a lot of things I enjoyed.

My dad used to say, don’t back up any further than you have to. Obviously before all these sensors and cameras , but still great advice.
