Bench Horne

I like Horne, but he really seems to be afraid of contact. If he is going to get hit, he gets the dropsies in a big way. With punts, he can always fair catch and not worry about it.

I would be shocked if Jarvis does not take his spot going forward, based on performance. At least, until Lenz is back - don't those three all play the same slot at WR?

Oh, and btw, West is a sophmore. Two more years of the little speedster is a good thing.

Maybe he just broke up with his girl friend, maybe he was getting sick, what ever the reason, for this game he should have been sat down. Whatever it was he just was not right last night

I think we've all had days we'd like to forget where things all go wrong...one game doesn't define him.

But being a lazy player does. Numerous times there are chances he can make a catch, but backs off the route, doesn't dive, etc. Even John Walters called him out at Okie State for not going after a catchable ball.

He had a bad game get over it. He has had tons of huge catches for us sinces he's been here. I was calling for him to be benched in the first half, but I am not going to hold it against him. He's a good player and will make up for it.

Exactly. If we wrote off every player who had a bad game this season, we wouldn't have anyone to play. Horne is a good player who is likely to come back and contribute.

I'm more concerned with the WRs who aren't fighting for the ball. I was glad to see Young go low to make a key catch because he has been the one I've been the most concerned about. It seems like several of our guys are really quick to take the "arms out / where was the ball" pose, but not jump high, go low, lay themselves out, and maneuver around the defender to make the catch.

When I see these guys running patterns, but not fighting for position or going after balls that aren't perfectly thrown, I wonder what their practices are like. I can envision them not diving all over the field in practice for imperfect throws, but they seem to be bringing that on to the game field.

Way to put the dic in vindictive. He had a bad night. Bet that has happened to you before, too.

With Horne dropping at least seven passes and Javis West coming in for him and scoring two touchdowns, Aaron should not see the field in the 2nd half. This is D1 ball and the coaches keep putting him in but his hands are cold. Boo hoo.

West did a great job of picking up his teammate when he was having a bad night, that's what you do. Now, how about some love for Brun. Get him the ball. Made some good plays, esp the one-handed grab with Jantz scrambling.

He came back to make a heck of a catch on a punt, good luck on next game, just one of those bad nights.

Totally agree with this! And get Brun the damn ball! That guy is a stud for sure, so glad we will have him around to make those circus one handed catches for us for another season.

Saturday was a lot of fun to watch.

Remember this statement the next time you have a bad day at work and screw up a couple of things. You should be fired on the spot. After all, this is real life.

And I can't believe two people actually liked this comment.

I may cut you some slack if you played D1 ball, but my guess is you didn't.

I liked the way the Cyclone.tv highlights feature a catch by Horne and a long view of the back of his jersey after the play. He is still going to be a big part of the rest of the season for us. He was just a decoy this week to lull Oklahoma to sleep about him.

Also, on the Cyclone.tv highlights, it looks like it was good that West made the catch for his third TD because Young (for whom it was thrown) would have been out-of-bounds if he caught it.

Did it scare everyone else to death, after Horne's 4th or 5th drop, when we put him back there to field a punt?

Luckily it was a bad punt and Horne didn't have a chance to even attempt to catch it.

Ha I was looking to the guy next to me in the stands asking the same question. doesn't a punt seem much more difficult with players coming at you at full speed instead of you running away from the defense on a pass? doesn't add up.

What is the threshold for dropped passes? 10? 25? 50?

I don't think anyone is saying that CPR should cut him or throw him out of the moving bus. Sometimes guys have hot streaks and sometimes they have cold streaks. He was the latter, Saturday.

Was he the one that misplayed that short kickoff with a little over six minutes left in the game? Someone else recovered, but the whole thing was ugly and scary.

Easy tiger ... you don't know me at all. I didn't play D1 but my son is another story. If you read what I wrote, it was seven drops I counted and then posted the comments. I understand the coaching staff doesn't want to crush the kid's confidence but you've got players on the sidelines fighting for playing time wondering why they aren't getting that many chances. West comes in and makes the most of his chance. The head coach took notice and I don't think Horne played WR in the second half.

I didn't write yank his scholarship or kick him off the team did I? That would be equivalent to getting fired from a job.

That is why return teams don't line up with 10 men within 15 yards of the ball on every kick. There is too much ground for one return guy to cover. ISU was ready for the onside kick so Baylor did a great job of attempting to take what the return team gave them. That was a really tough play for a return guy; he was really left out on an island.

I think most of us are forgiving. It was the right decision to not play him for [most] of the 2nd half. Give him another shot, if he practices well this week, let him play Saturday. If not, let someone else start. :nerd6bs:

It isn't really about forgiveness. He didn't hurt our feelings (well, he did, sort of), but more about performance. If he shakes whatever was bothering him this week and proves in practice that he is ready, then use him.

P.S. I wondered if he had some of Nealy's pinkeye!
