One of the Baylor players, Josh Ojianwuna, was interviewed yesterday about their game against ISU tomorrow.

I was pretty surprised when he openly shared that they plan to play zone against us. Not surprised they're gonna play zone (because they do that often), just surprised that he said it so openly. I'm sure Drew wasn't too happy about that.

He also talked about how he's been at Baylor 3 years now and he's tired of losing to Iowa State.

Baylor is an 8.5 point underdog, and they've played in tough environments with true road games at Gonzaga and UConn, although they lost both. They just beat Utah at home by 25, the same Utah team that recently lost to Iowa by 7 on a so-called neutral court. They shoot A LOT of 3's.

I think it's all gonna boil down to how well we handle their zone and how low we can keep their 3 point percentage, so who knows. Gun to my head, I'd say ISU wins but doesn't quite cover the spread. Wouldn't be shocked, though, if we just keep improving and spank them. Like I said, who knows.

I'm not sure how this is tipping their hand.
Have you ever heard a player say before the game what type of defense they're going to run against their opponent? As I said, it's not a shocker they're going to zone us, just surprising that a player would volunteer that information in a press conference 2 days before the game.

Not often, but this is also basketball. Gameplans usually get reworked anyway when the other team inevitably puts together a run.

I guess I never really paid attention but Baylor playing zone is surprising to nobody and any team is going to play zone or man.

If ISU had a player say in an interview that they plan to trap a lot I don't think it matters.

My biggest concern about Baylor is rebounding and limiting their second chance points. They have an average rebounding margin of +7 (ranked 30th) compared to Iowa State +6 (ranked 50th).

Take care of the boards and we’ll be in good position.

Miss Lipey's car is green!

Ha in all honesty will be the first time we've had a heavy zone look this year. Jefferson so skilled I think he could cause havoc in the middle of a zone. Let Gilbert catch it in there and go to work as well.
