Baseline Student Seating

I'm sure this has already been addressed on this site, but have we ever gotten an explanation on why the seating on the baselines got pushed back so far? Watching Auburn, UNC, and Michigan St at home, Hilton looks like a mid major on the baseline, not to mention the awful lighting changes.

Because they bought new bleachers.

I'm guessing they have the same number of rows of seats in the bleachers but the space needed for each level went down with getting rid of the folding chairs.

And I'm guessing it was a safety measure to allow for staging to keep students off the floor.

They used to have individual chairback seats that I'm pretty sure they had to take down manually every time they had to reconfigure Hilton for a different event, whether it was for wrestling, gymnastics, etc.

They didn't want to mess with that anymore so they installed bleachers that are retractable. And they're a few feet shorter than what it used to be.
