Source: Louis Ayeni will be the new running backs coach at Northwestern. He'd been at Iowa State and coached Kareem Hunt at Toledo.

For those that will say "Link"
I imagined we would lose him at some point to a more powerhouse program, but Northwestern is a surprise especially with what we having coming back. Perhaps he thought he needed to get out of Campbell's shadow to expand his resume for a head coach opportunity.
Didn’t see that coming...
Must me more $$? Otherwise how is this anything other than a lateral move?
That's a huge loss
I think he graduated from NW. Must be a dream job for him.
Will be interested to see the 'explanation' for why LA would take a lateral move from a staff that has been viewed as a cohesive unit.
Because he played at Northwestern and is a NW alum. Doesn't need much more explaining than that.
Still a huge loss.
He made 300K in Ames last year, and would be getting a good bump this year. Since he is going to be Recruiting Coordinator I am guessing 400-450K? Still, I would think he would have been in line for the OC at ISU if and when Manning moved on.
It’s his alma mater. Not sure why it’s a surprise.
Yep. From his Cyclones.com bio --> Alma Mater: Northwestern, 2003.
Lateral move? LMAO
It's always hard to compete against the lure of returning to one's alma mater. Sorry to see him move on, but he has to do what's best for him in his career. I'm sure that Campbell will hire a capable replacement, and the door should always be kept open for a possible Ayeni return.
OK, who's the next assistant leaving for his alma mater? I don't want be surprised again.
His wife is also from Chicago.
