Doesnt seem like its an auto bid if they dont win the conference tourney
Jacksonville State receives the auto bid due to Bellarmine being ineligible for the tournament. In the event the conference tournament winner is ineligible, the auto bid goes to the regular season champion.

Oh sheesh that is weird. I didn't realize they were ineligible.

For sure. It’s because they are in year 2 of a transition period to division 1. When a school moves up from a lower division, they aren’t eligible for the NCAA tournament (or NIT) for 4 years. Kind of a dumb rule.

So since Bellarmine won the ASUN, Jacksonville State goes to the big dance. Does that mean that JSU is a correct answer?

I should have clarified earlier: Referencing my Post #4 in this thread, regarding ineligible teams:

"In some cases, the teams are allowed to compete in their league tournament … in those situations, we’ll give credit if that team wins its tournament, even if it doesn’t officially receive auto-bid to NCAAT."

(NOted earlier today in my roundup of championship matchups)
: Jacksonville gets the official NCAAT automatic; if Bellarmine wins tournament title it is auto-qualifier for NIT, per conference set-up.

At the time of contest-launch, I wasn't aware of ASUN's arrangement)

No A-BM participants chose Bellarmine, but some did select Jacksonville, so they get a point.

Additional clarification: Jacksonville, NOT Jacksonville State.

Jacksonville State gets the automatic, not Jacksonville.
