Audi Crooks to Transfer

I disagree with that take. In part because that's the approach Bill Fennelly took. Audi was 90 percent of the structured offense. And on defense, don't worry we'll outscore teams.

IMO the best situation for Audi is a team that has a stud PG and athletic, defensive power forward that is a rebounding machine. And then add a couple 3 point shooters. Not rely on Audi for 35 minutes of the game, but have her as a go-to option in the final minutes. She'll still be a 20ppg scorer.

But I agree, the team needs to design their defense to minimize Audi's quickness limitations.

Also, does her new team focus on her fitness. IMO her size is part of what makes Audi a great offensive player (aka Charles Barkley). But does it cause her to wear down as the season progresses due to cumulative aches/pains and pounding on her knees?

Pete Nakos of On3 (whoever that is) is claiming that Crooks is asking “well north of a half-million” in NIL for next year.

Surprised its that low. But if her Fareway deal is ongoing, maybe anything new is gravy. And would also be curious if that is separate from what she would expect in House Settlement.

I'm not sure why whether or not she quit matters. Everybody quits. Every other student who transfers, quits. So does everyone who decides to take a new job. Who gives a **** if she quit? It's not some moral failing. To quote an old song: Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.
I quit every day. It's called going to bed.

I think Fennelly is our ferentz. I think both deserve to go out on their terms.. but i hope fennelly chooses to retire soon (and i hope ferentz stays). I think the current era has passed both of them. both programs will be fine with them. I don't think either will take a step forward until they retire.

Most normal Iowa fans are fine with Ferentz staying for the record. Only the idiots and they are in every fan base..

With that said most of us are OK if he retires too… But to pretend like that man hasn’t kicked some serious ass and still putting a high-quality product on the field is just silly. I can assure you there aren’t any coaches in the Big Ten that like to play Iowa.

My only issue with him retiring is who they’re going to find that understands the culture and the eye for talent, that it takes to coach at places like Iowa and Iowa State. That has been his greatest gift. Iowa continually, just like Matt Campbell was doing, find kids that should’ve been rated much much higher.

It’s kind of a weird comparison and comment really… Iowa has lost I think 3 games by a total of 7 points in 10 years. To what I considered a very good coach… I think most fans are OK with that.

Team suggestion sounds good, but remember in the last games that close to what she had at Iowa State and she was still yelling at her teammates to get her the ball. I don’t think she’d be happy being not the centerpiece.

So over a span of 10 years you can pick out three games that he’s lost by a total of seven points? You honestly should be able to pick out three games you lost by a total of three points in that time.

She’s not worth the money they’re talking about with your strategy…not that it’s a bad one for a winning team. You just won’t see her go into what you’ve laid out. She’s either going to a team built around her or she’s going somewhere she believes can transform her into a WNBA player.

I have seen better offenses from Pee Wee football teams then what Iowa puts out there.

We compete better there than we do in WBB as of late, and it loses less money overall at the same time. Not a great comparison (unless the argument is calling a spade a spade and getting out of every non-rev sport... there's a discussion to be had).
Compete, making the tournament numerous times is definitely competing. Agreed, several times I thought we could have done better, but I think that in football and men's basketball too.

In Jan Jensen's 2nd season, Iowa finished 2nd in the B1G and made it to the B1G championship (6th appearance in 8 seasons). With Iowa's youngest team since 2013....

Iowa will be a Top 10 team in the pre-season rankings and Top 3 in the B1G, even with 5 kids headed to the portal. Jan has expanded her recruiting footprint from Atlanta to Alaska to California, even landing the #6 kid in the country whose 2nd option was South Carolina. Jan has also gotten #1 kids in the country to visit IC (Kaleena Smith and Kate Harpring) the past two years. Unheard of stuff in IC.

Carver-Hawkeye was voted the hardest place to play in the B1G this year by B1G student athletes and regularly appears on "Top 5 Environments" lists.

Iowa has come a long way, and has a bright future -- especially compared to Iowa State right now. ISU is lucky they beat Iowa this year because tbh it's looking like it's going to be an 2-8 record vs Iowa for the decade come this fall...

Dude, seriously, what are you doing… a very large percentage of these guys hate everything about Iowa. If they won the national championship they’d come up with 10 reasons why it was flawed.

They aren’t unique as far as rivals go, but they are fairly unique in the number of them by percentage that absolutely despise all things Iowa… You can talk about Iowa State and give insight and then small anecdotal things about Iowa, but that litany of Pro-Iowa things ain’t gonna fly

They would deny anything positive towards Iowa if it cost them their lives.

Do you know something internally about Iowa State and their players or are you mostly an Iowa fan? I AM an Iowa fan, but I have more than proven. I have a great desire for Iowa State and as far as that goes, Drake and UNI to all three succeed in men’s and women’s basketball.

I’m curious what your connection is

No you haven’t…not and still win games. And I’m glad you brought it up. It has been readily apparent, defense defense defense and then defense is Paramont in high-level sports… I would never trade a defensive minded coach for an offensive minded one that didn’t play defense because then you have Bill Fennely and Fran McCaffrey. Or hell, Mike Leach and all his acolytes.

Huh…. an Iowa State fan tells me he hopes KF sticks around and I pointed out sure you hope that you’ve won three games in 10+ years by a total of seven points.

You clearly missed what I was saying…. An Iowa State fan hoping Iowas football coach who still is winning a **** ton of games and moving people on to the highest level, telling the forum he hopes Iowas coach sticks around is pretty comical… We’ll see what he says in the fall

What do you think her roll will be on a WNBA team in May 2027? It's not going to be the centerpiece.

Her goal for her next college team should be: the missing piece on a top 15 program and prove/enhance her WNBA draft position.

I hope she does go there. Won’t be hard to run her into the ground with pace of play. You can attack her offensively because she has never met anyone she wanted to guard. Rebounds in the paint will be available.

She won’t…. although I find myself wondering how you would respond to that if she was still at Ames & an Iowa fan said that. I mean it’s fairly accurate, but it wouldn’t have gone over well.

If you really want Bill gone stop going to games. There is really no reason to get rid of him as long as the team is drawing 11k per game
This is not ISU specific, but I wish all attendance numbers were based on actual attendance. No way we are anywhere close to 11k per game, and doesn't that number include a bunch of JCC tickets that they include?
