Ashley Okland Murder

I gotten called like 3 times and served on the jury one time. Pretty easy case. My boss had to serve on Federal Jury for like 2 months.

Crazy killer chick falls in love with Ashley’s man and being the crazy ***** she is thinks if she gets rid of Ashley she can have the man.

Slight problem: the crazy killer chick had been married for 16 years at the time of the murder. Was she going to off the husband too? She is still married to the same man btw.

I agree with another poster: any guy that is torn between a young, attractive, and single 26 year old Ashley Okland and an old married hag needs his head examined.

Got on the Fed jury duty call list years ago. Had to call in every Friday for a few weeks to see if I had to report Eventually did. Went to the courthouse., got instructions. Sat for around 2 hours waiting. A couple of defendants were brought in. After about 15 minutes the lawyers went to the judge's chamber and the defendants were escorted out. A couple more minutes went by and we were told that's all they had on the docket for the day, and we were free to go.

Was on seven jury trials , six over one quarter. One of the trials was a serious misdemeanor against a woman. One of the evidence submitted was a cigarette pouch. We looked through it and I spotted something illegal in the purse that was in addition to what she was charged with and pointed it out. We found her guilty. I told the county attorney about finding that in her purse and later found out it she could have been charged with an aggravated misdemeanor. He hemmed and hawed and said oh yeah we knew it was in there but wanted to see if the jury would spot. What an idiot.

Maybe it was the other way around and it was the husband of the accused flirting with Ashley at some after work function, and the accused took offense to that. That makes the jealousy thing a bit more believable.

A friend of mine's (met at Iowa State) older brother was involved with this trial. The photos/evidence they were presented still bothers him to this day. Being a juror on murder/homicide trials, especially involving children, has to be rough.

This whole incident kind of went quiet due to the events that would happen 10 days later.

Edit: wasn't sure if he was a juror or involved in some other capacity (he's an attorney)

One of the cases that I got called for was a civil lawsuit against some doctors, the hospital and a language interpretation company. After explaining the lawsuit, the lawyer for the guy suing asked us to be honest and would any of us not be able to take the case seriously. The guy and his wife that were suing were about 60 year-old foreigners who couldn't speak english.

The lawsuit was brought because the old gentleman wanted a circumcision and came out of the hospital with a vasectomy! LOL, true story!

I raised my hand when the suing lawyer asked that question. He asked me why I couldn't take the lawsuit seriously. I began my rant and the judge spoke up and said that she had a feeling where my reply was going and that she'd have to clear the courtroom of prospective jurors before I answered the lawyer's question. LOL, she didn't want me to poison the whole prospective jury pool.

After the courtroom cleared I proceeded with my rant. I used the term "frivolous lawsuit" a lot and the problem that professionals were having in obtaining affordable liability insurance because of lawsuits like this. I pointed out that this issue was personal to me being a professional engineer. The lawyer thanked me for being so honest, lol. It worked, as I was dismissed in the first cut.
I wonder if there is a statute of limitations on circumcision lawsuits? I couldn't walk for a year after my circumcision.

But then again I was 6 days old when it happened. I may need a really good lawyer who is willing to take case on % of settlement.

I'm not agreeing with the love triangle aspect, but I keep seeing the accused women described as old, or in this case a hag
Are people forgetting she was only 38 at the time of the murder?
Yes, still 12 years older than Ashley at the time, but much younger than she is today

Are you saying CW knew who did it all along and waited for a slow period to tip off the police knowing it would drive traffic to this website? Thats brilliant!
We have no idea how deep this conspiracy might go. Wreckless speculation is the only tool we have if no one is going to give us the answers we've decided we're entitled (or if we simply don't like the answers provided)!

There was a case in the late 60’s early 70’s of a case in council Bluffs of a murder and robbery at a local steak house. Don’t think it was ever solved, but rumors of a mob hit were prevalent. At Club 64, no longer in business

I have only had jury duty one time . They sat us in the box for an assault case, the defended walk in and I knew him. He actually got in a fight with someone I knew and he was charged with fighting some other guy in jail. They made me leave hah
That's just good luck. I got selected the one time I got called after being confident I wouldn't after one of the raise your hands questions was "Have you worked for Cerner?" Turned out the only witness was a Cerner employee who was the daughter of the woman suing for damages in a car accident. Didnt work in their favor. $28 for 3 days of my time.

Yeah now that you mention it, I do kinda remember that.

The case that still drives me crazy is the Terry Lass case in Norwalk. She has had two kids die and still not convicted of the crimes. One was a baby. It's like she is a very smart killer. Not sure how she get's away with it. Look it up if you have not read about it.

I really want to get called someday. I’m pretty sure with my job I just get paid normal and the jury pay goes to my job. I always find it interesting some people get called multiple times and some people never get called.
My wife and I lived in NE Ohio for 4.5 years and I got called three years in a row. My next door neighbors in Wadsworth grew up there, were our age and had never been called.

My first time thru jury selection, the defense attorney asked if I knew anybody in the room. I dutifully replied the prosecutor’s father-in-law lived across the street from me so I’d met the prosecutor at a 4th of July Picnic, etc. The prosecutor confirmed we were acquainted and I assumed I was going home early. Negative - I ended up jury foreman! We went for lunch and the perp plead to a first time offender program while we were away - probably realized if his attorney didn't disqualify me, he was going down!
