Bonnie has NEVER had a winning conference record, yet she received a contract extension through 2018 based on a couple of Sweet 16 appearances. KU doesn't care about women's basketball, so I wouldn't expect her to be going anywhere soon.

The real shock in all of this is WVU being 0-4, including losing to TTU at home. We will see about TCU, they could easily lose their next six in a row and will come back to reality.

As I mentioned in the TCU preview...they are very guard oriented with numerous players that can score. They could end up being the surprise of the conference. They are quick, tenacious on D and their coach employs the "beat up your opponent" doctrine that Coach Fen dislikes (and I am glad he does...it's not basketball).

Maybe we shouldn't be so surprised by TCU. their top two scorers returned. 4 of 5 starters returned. They only graduated one player of merit, Lovings, who, was physical but only averaged 8 points or so a game.

At least 4 players of TCUs roster, had serious interest/offers from ISU/Fennelly, so, the talent is there.

I guess the new coach was the question mark.

K-State will not be a slam dunk down there. They play a defense that could cause problems. If we are not hitting shots and valuing the ball against the zone, it could be worse than TCU.

KSU and TCU are very similar and I'm sure TCU watched the game film from our narrow escape. If we hit our outside shots it will open the floor to drives and fouls. The key is going to be Moody and making free throws as a team.

Oklahoma may be the surprise of the conference so far at 5-0. They played a tough non conference and took a beating, and frankly, did not look that great in some games. However they seem to be coming together and playing with a lot of confidence. Maddie Manning is making an impact too after her two years with knee injuries. They won in a somewhat tight and very high scoring game at TCU on Saturday. So ISU is not the only team to let TCU score a bunch of points. The difference is that OU handled the pressure better and kept scoring (probably assist goes to ISU in helping them prepare). TCU's bully-style of play really cost them in the end, as Z. Medley got a double technical after fouling an OU guard by being confrontational with OU and the ref.

Only two teams left ranked in Big 12, Baylor and Texas, both Top 10. OSU dropped out. OU (21 votes) and ISU (6 votes) receiving votes but very close to getting in.

Only ranked non-conference opponent is Iowa at #20.

Unusual Monday afternoon game on FS1 right now between OU and OSU at Norman. Both played Saturday and playing again today.

OU up early 16-6

Oklahoma may be the surprise of the conference so far at 5-0.

OU won today over OSU and will likely win Saturday against TT but I will not be surprised to see them lose a bunch after that as the schedule really turns on them. Right now Texas is giving Baylor some heat at BU.

Bad news for Texas,Nneka Enemkpali out with a knee injury.

Was looking like Baylor, Texas and than the rest. Starting to look like Baylor than the Sooners and Texas and than the rest. Think you are underestimating the Sooners.

No I am just saying OU has not played the toughest part of their schedule and it is my belief they will likely not win the conference.

Baylor out thugged Texas last night. Never seen so much slapping and pushing and kneeing, it is a shame what does sport has been reduced to

We have discussed this many times on these pages. Even had high hopes last year with the "freedom of movement" guidelines - indicating that more fouls should/would be called. But, just as we feared, all that evaporated once the conference seasons began.

It was heartening to see it being discussed on GameDay in Hilton, notably by Jay Bilas. And then the article below appeared a few days ago. Still have (a little) hope.

With the NBA game getting so much better in the last 5 years, college hoops needs to pay attention. Viewership will drop. What gets me is how clean the NBA and WNBA game are compared to college ball. I guess their is so much more talent, so, there is less need to thug it out....
