Are we ranked 23rd?

This whole thread is kind of pathetic. Travis Hines is not out to get anyone. I've followed him on Twitter for years, he's somewhat entertaining, has some good insights. I've never noticed anything overtly negative, if you want sunshine blown up your a*****, that's your problem.

A bit off-topic:

The Register had a big page 1 article yesterday related to your major -- Midwestern Rainfall Slowly Poisoning the Gulf of Mexico (Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, DMR print edition and online E-Edition pdf).

If I am not mistaken, it was only in their print edition, and therefore also in their online pdf E-Edition if you subscribe -- even online-only subscriptions (not print) -- and is not otherwise linked at their website.

It seems that it was first published in USA Today, and is available to link directly at Yahoo News:
Excess fertilizer washed from Midwestern fields is slowly poisoning the Gulf of Mexico (yahoo.com)

I had to break it into three (pages) to attach the pdf(s) below -- as it is otherwise too big to upload to CF. Other than using a pdf manager that can combine them into one file (like Apple Preview or Adobe) -- DMR subscribers can go back to yesterday's paper still and combine the three pages into one pdf that way. Click Editions (after clicking E-Edition link at the DMR homepage) to find the prior pdf editions available online.

For ISU athletes or families who subscribe, this is also a good way to save DMR game articles and related photos.

Below are pages 1, 4, and 5 of the DMR, Friday, Dec. 3, 2021:

I really don't understand the Hines hate on here. At all. Randy, sure.

I don’t hate the guy he just has that classic too cool to be here persona a lot of sports writers have. I just find the constant emo being jaded thing grating.

Now give your review of Chad's coverage of Iowa.

That is the issue, and if you can't figure that out, you're an idiot

I think you hit the nail on the head.

I expect beat writers to be absolutely fair in their coverage. IF Travis fits that description for some of you, that is okay.

Yet, the Register allows at least one beat writer to be an open cheerleader for one university in the state. And that is not okay

Why shouldn't fans from the other major university expect to have an apple polisher for a beat writer as well?

One university gets more "positive" coverage than the other, and that is not okay. An example would be a couple of years ago when Iowa lost at ISU and all Chad could do is cry about how it wasn't fair because ISU made more free throws than Iowa even attempted -- implying that the Hawkeyes were robbed by the officials.

So I agree with those Cyclone posters who say a beat writer isn't supposed to be a "homer" and tell it like it is.

The issue is, the Register has two standards when it comes to beat writers for Iowa and ISU. And again, that isn't okay

I didn’t check as I don’t want to support the DMR, but was the headline for Hawk Central “Iowa rally falls short against soon to be top-10 opponent” like when playing Purdue? Or “Once unranked Iowa St gets upset over Iowa?”

The only interesting thing about that **** paper is how their bias will manifest.
