The SEC has to be worried about this. Suddenly, their advantage of being able to do this without competition is gone.

It'll be interesting how far down the rosters this goes. Will this be just the projected first round type guys that already go to these schools? If a guy is being recruited as a top guy at ISU or a bench player at Bama, will the dollars make a difference? Are the shoe companies going to play favorites and encourage kids to move around? Going to be a couple interesting years as this settles out.

But won’t most SEC schools have more resources and support for NIL then most of the other leagues? They might be better at NIL than everyone else. Plus the SEC will always pony up the money to get the players paid well. They always have and they always will

Potentially, yes. This definitely represents a change in landscape that schools and administrators will have to figure out, but that's what they were hired to do. Some will fail, some will flourish.

Ok so to make sure college kids aren't getting "over-paid" we will compare their endorsement deals to legitimate celebrities endorsement deals? Makes sense.

I wonder what school facilities will really fail with money going directly to a few athletes instead of to the Athletic Departments? I'm making the assumption the money that was supporting whole ADs will dramatically drop off. What is the enticement to the donor? Schools that have the richest donors should be ok, but maybe not. This will shake up college athletics more than most think I believe. Hope I'm wrong.

Marketing like this isn’t new, I’m sure there’s an existing payscale for similar level “celebrities”. And the market is going to be pretty obvious once this really gets going.

I could see this changing the way donors spend the money, I expect they'll cut out the middle men (the schools) and start putting money directly in players hands through stuff like this.

This was going to happen... and it has. Unless someone can educate me on how this helps an Iowa Sate in FB and MBB.... I will take the side that we have now fallen back down the recruiting ladder a few rungs.
Time will tell. Top recruits want playing time and NFL exposure.

I've said this before here... and will say it again. This is so Iowa State luck. Woody Hayes punches an opposing player. For multiple decades altering the great trajectory of what we had going.
If Matt is here long term, I'm far less worried.
We just won't, (I believe), as an alumni group, compete with the pay to sign top 20 or 30 schools.
Maybe I'm wrong?
That being said, the kids still have to be coached and feel appreciated. We have THAT.
