Getting this thread going.

Obviously these matches don’t really mean anything, but good to get the exposure and mat time against top competition.

On paper Yonger is the favorite over Ghadiali but heavyweights seem to jump levels at Michigan with the talent at CK in the uppers. Ghadiali been rumored to go from 230 to about 260 as well.

Ech is in a different situation. He’s going to have a war on his hands with Mendez and will really give him the opportunity to show that he is the title contender that many of us think he will be.

Also will be very interesting to see Casey in OK St orange.

Very excited to watch both of these, definitely worried about both since they have not been in competition for quite a while but will be a good barometer for where they're currently at. Both are going to have a ton of chances in the first half of the year to prove themselves against more top competition. By my quick count, (and not even including potential matchups at Cliff Keen) in November/December Ech will get another shot at Mendez, in addition to the #3 guy (Lehigh) and the #10 guy (Iowa). Bastida will get #5 (Iowa), #6 (Ohio State), and #8 (Lehigh).

Come out healthy is priority one of course. Ech can hang with Mendez, we've seen that before. He's obviously the underdog though.

For Yonger, honestly he shouldn't have much too trouble with Ghadiali. I've seen enough from Yonger to say that, in my opinion, when healthy he's a step ahead of everyone not named AJ Ferrari.

Even if Ech gets handled, I'd be bothered by that zero given what his body has been through the last year. He's put too much hay in the barn to think he can't figure it out eventually if he loses. I'm kind of glad both of them even took these matches coming off of what they have been dealing with injury and health-wise.

Agreed, lucky break there. Some pretty lame indirect comments from Burroughs about our program. Something to the effect of "Swiderski has really underperformed compared to HS expectations, but he's in the right place now."
