Alamodome

Full honesty here.
It's cool that ISU is going to play right in my back yard....happy we got a great bowl.
Not sure I'm up for sitting through a game at the Alamodome.

During Katrina we took some customers to the Saints game. I'm 6'5" and my knees were next to the guy's ears sitting in front of me. Not comfortable or enjoyable for me or him. I've not been back since.

Heck I gave away an awesome set of Final Four tickets I won in a sales contest in 2008 (?).

Like much of San Antonio's Gov endeavors, the Alamodome was poorly conceived, badly designed, and endlessly plagued by corruption.

Pff- I didn't hear many complaints from the 2018 NCAA Final Four. Or Wrestlemania. Or Paul McCartney. She's not much to look at, but she's a fine, utilitarian venue.

WrestleMania has never been at the Alamodome. It has hosted several large scale WWE events, such as Royal Rumble though.

You are living one of my childhood dreams (one of many). As a 7th/8th grader I was obsessed with stadium design. I would get my graph paper and design all sorts of stadiums. Alas this dream never came to fruition because I am not good at advanced math, so I had to settle for being an accountant.

We've seen your JTS renderings for the north endzone upper deck connection. Stick to racing, Curt. :D

It will be a better venue than Memphis, at least In regard the facility itself and amenities, without question.

I recently read an article that ranked Liberty Bowl In the bottom ten of all fbs stadiums.

Should I be worried now? :D

I will say the little sportsbar they had in the stadium was kind if nice. When I say sportsbar I mean concession stand with tvs and some tables. Location and lack of toilets for tailgating were negatives for sure.

Why does San Antonio even have a football stadium this big without an NFL team? Now way UTSA gets even close to filling that thing up

It's Texas. If you don't have a football stadium, you're not a real city. The Cotton Bowl only hosts four collegiate games a year. Red River Showdown, Heart of Dallas Bowl and two FCS games. The Cotton Bowl isn't even played in the Cotton Bowl anymore.

Minneapolis has US Bank stadium. The Vikings do not own it, they rent it. They try to host an event there every single day of the year. Every day it sits empty is money lost. I imagine the Alamo Dome committee faces the same challenge, only an extra 8 sundays per year to fill. (And a huge chunk of change)

They built it because they were trying to lure an NFL team to San Antonio

And once McCombs bought the Vikings a few years later it almost happened. I haven't heard much about NFL to San Antonio, but by now they'd need to build a new stadium again to get someone!
