Wifey is adamant we get one for Christmas.
What size does a family of four (kids 10&5) actually need?

Size, 3Qt, 4Qt, 7Qt, 10Qt?
Do you get one with a basket/drawer, or do you buy the larger with Shelves (looks like a min oven).
Price- What should I plan to spend?
Brand recommendations?
Stores/website to purchase from?
Brands to stay away from?

Here is what we did. We just had one show up to our house addressed to us. Not positive where it came from but thinking it’s from helping a couple move. So if you help a couple move, the fryer fairy will send you one. At least that is what happened to us.

We have a small one (no idea quarts) but the only time we use it is to reheat leftovers from a dinner out that has fried food. It is really awesome for that. Otherwise, meh.

We got one as a gift from homemakers for buying a nice couch. I don't know the size, but you would need a big one to be able to make fries for the family.

It is nice as an accessory, but I'm glad we didn't go out an buy it. Like others mention, you can use your oven for anything you would do in it. I'm also anti Insant Pot but pro Sous Vide if anyone is asking.

We have a ninja air fryer/pressure cooker combo. It works great but we wish we would have gotten the one with the trays so you can cook more things at the same time. We never use the pressure cooker part of it. We do use it quite often. It just a mini glorified convection oven.

I will say it has increased the odds of convincing my wife that we need late night apps.

Mine's pretty loud, though, and we've got an open concept kitchen/living room setup.

Although I do agree, it does a good job on Trader Joe's frozen stuff, reheating pizza, tater tots, and fries. I've actually resurrected fries from the food truck, but was able to do that in the convection oven as well.

My wife tries doing everything in it, which doesn't scale well.

InstantPots, now, those are great.

I still can't believe that someone in a marketing department somewhere decided to rename a convection oven/broiler and everyone fell for it.
I don't have one but aren't these supposed to circulate the air at a higher rate than a convection oven?

If I did get one it would be one like a mini oven. They seem more versatile.

Haha, they are definitely loud.

I remember visiting some family that had one and I read its recipe book. I'm sure it was a bad model or something but if I followed all the directions to the letter it would take like an hour and some change to cook one potato worth of "chips".

Funny enough the air fryer was also a gift.

Yeah maybe not practical for a family but I just got a cheap 3 qt Chefman from target. Best part is you don’t have to preheat like an oven. Perfect for leftovers, anything frozen (fries/cinnamon roll/fried pickles) and anything you only want a little of rather than a full pan in the oven.

Got one at Walmart a few years ago for like $40. Like a 6 qt Faberware brand. Just reheated some leftover Great Plains pizza. Does an awesome job! We’ve used it so much a lot of the lettering has come off.

Love the air fryer! Seriously. We eat a lot of fish and chicken. It's perfect for that....and if you like fries.....BOOM

Our problem has been quality. 3 have blown up on us. I guess we're heavy users since it's really a go-to kitchen item

We just upgraded to a convection toaster oven that works the same as an air fryer. (Much like the Amazon link above)

As long as this one doesn't shoot craps we'll be in business. Easier to eat healthy or to warm pizza
