Was thinking about this when the news of Addy missing some time came out - I think Addy was the most indispensable of the WBB roster. She is the leading rebounder, second leading scorer, probably the best passer on the team and a plus ball handler that can take pressure off the PG and initiate the offense. She is also probably a plus defender on our team. No disrespect to Audi but I think that her scoring could be replaced easier than the all around game that Addy brings.

I think that this is an explanation for our current struggles - along with AJ as a solid shooter and another plus defender and you have challenges. The replacements for Addy / AJ are either solid on the defensive or offensive end for the most part but are not two way players (Reagan has been the closest but her size limits her effectiveness on the defensive end).

If we didn’t have Audi, it seems like we wouldn’t have skipped a beat replacing Ashley Joens with Addy.

Audi is a highly effective shooter, but requires a team to focus efforts on her. Not every team would be willing to do that.

On the other hand almost any team in the country would take Addy and start her.

I'd agree with most all of that with the exception of plus defender, I'd say more "serviceable" on defense. Maybe only AJ is a plus defender outside of the context of our team only. It's just not our identity and never will be under Fennelly. Not going to count Paulk since she hardly plays but she has the reputation. Still, Brown is our best all around player when you factor in her ability to rebound and pass.

NPOY judging by our results without her.

Someone once said "the team goes as Addy Brown goes".

Honestly I think Addy is the best all around player on the team. Thoughts that ever since they were freshman. No disrespect to Audi, she is so much fun to watch, but she is kind of a one trick pony.

I'd say co-MVP. I don't think she'd be as good without Audi either. They complement each other well and require teams to choose their poison or split their focus.
agreed. Addy's assists go down without the auto-bucket that Audi is, but vice versa no one on the team throws a better pass to the post than Addy. I think she'd struggle to have to be a full time post presence, we see it when she's forced into the role. She's definitely the best all-around player although she does occasionally disappear for long stretches (maybe more back pain related than we were led to believe?)

kind of like Milan / Jefferson. Milan obviously is the better offensive force and is setting records and such for his shot, but Jefferson is probably the more well-rounded player. not a perfect comparison because Audi scoring about double what Milan does, but you get the gist.

Not that there was any way to predict it, but Addy just missed the redshirting cutoff by a few games.

The team is paying the price for not getting a back up F for Addy in the portal. Also for chasing away K Joens in the offseason. Hard to fully call it a lost season. Any sadness is for the young women practicing and playing hard every game. Some goals the team had seem a bit farther away without Brown and AJ.

TBF it’s probably hard to recruit a good one knowing they’ll hardly play being behind Addy

I agree. Injuries, unfortunately are part of the game. I know I've been on CBF but his play calling is centered around mostly Audi and Addy with a few players shooting 3's. It's too one dimensional and now look what's happening......

This happens on many teams not just ours. The challenge will be for the other players to step up and the coaching staff to have game plans to use the skills of these players.

Makes me wonder if anything would apply retroactively if the NCAA enacts the five year play rule and eliminates redshirts altogether?

Seems unlikely. The NCAA decided to keep things as they are through the 2026-27 academic year and Brown's eligibility will be over after that year.
