We all know this play resulted in a pass interference call against Sam Richardson, resulting in a Texas automatic first down and goal at the 1 yard line.

However, on this play one can clearly see Texas RT Kennedy Estelle holding ISU DT Brandon Jensen while he fights to get to McCoy. When Jensen finally breaks through the grasp, Estelle raises both arms in the classic "I didn't hold!" pose. I don't understand how a referee that is savvy enough to call defensive holding on a line stunt misses that obvious hold.

I watched the play again this morning on the WatchESPN replay, and it confirmed what I saw last night. It should have been offsetting penalties, replay 3rd down and 8 from the ISU 11.

There were multiple questionable situations that the referees placed us in last night. I saw plenty of holding all night long, and our guys never seemed to get the calls. (Except for the obvious David Irving WWE stunt.)

Good catch - I didn't see it, but I wish SR would have at least turned towards the ball - he easily could have batted down and avoided the call if he turned towards the ball.

Texas had 1 penalty and it took the entire stadium to get the ref to throw the flag on the interference.

Texas was holding the entire game. Our d-line was much, much quicker than their ogres which resulted in a ton of arm-hooks that were not called.

I don't believe we had any offensive holding penalties called against us did we?

Ben Bruns stated in the postgame that the refs missed a lot of holds on both teams. Including a hold on the hail mary.

I'm not sure that interference call was even correct, it appeared that the ball went sailing by about the same time as the contact.

I agree - but if Sam turned towards the ball instead of running into the receiver, wouldn't it have been a no call?
Possibly, if he's playing the ball it's likely a no call, hard play for a CB to make though.

Yeah...I was thinking about that hold in the Hail Mary. Kid of like if a guy flings a 3/4 court shot in bball and there is contact, refs don't seem to call those....stinks. Would have loved a "holding on the offense...that's the end of the half"
