I'll admit that I was overly negative with my comments, but they were based on plays that I saw on the game replays where you would expect better effort. There have been many comments in various threads where the focus was on Dimitri taking the lid off the defense. There will probably only be a couple of attempts like this per game. It's more important that he prove to be a reliable target to deliver a 5-10 yd catch in situations like 3rd and 4 or 1st and 10.I’m not sure how valid these observations of Dimitri Stanley’s game are. During summer camp CMC and others commented on what an excellent route runner Dimitri is, and one of the players (X, I believe) commented on how he fit into the team as if he’d always been here.
The latter of which sounds to me like he was already doing all of those “little things” you mentioned all of our receivers who see the field are already doing.
Oh, and I’m pretty sure that no one at all said anything about him helping the team by “simply running fast”.
Obviously the staff would not have brought him in if they didn't see the potential. He likely didn't play in many games at Colorado that matched the intensity of the game in Iowa City or even the home opener. It wouldn't be the first time that a new player needed a couple games under his belt before he settled into a productive role. Just go back two years to see that X didn't exactly tear up the field in his first two games. He started to emerge in game 3 and now there is nobody better.
