I avoided CF like the plague last night. Looking at some of the new threads that have popped up since then, it looks like I came back way too soon.

I just remember the good OL’ days before the OU game where it was the popular opinion that we were going to lose out, including to KU, and finish 5-7. Instead we finished 7-5 and those same posters’ worlds ended last night.

I’m not saying I’m not disappointed - I experienced the disappointments of 2003, 2006, and especially 2005, and 2019 is right up there with them - worse in some ways because we had our chances this year and it’s still fresh.

I'm the same way anymore, I get super psyched and excited for the wins but the losses just don't really affect me anymore honestly. I'm comfortable with knowing we're not going to win them all, even some of the ones we should win, much more enjoyable to focus on the good times than be upset about the bad times.

Same with me, probably comes with age and kids and life etc. Losses would burn my arse for days, now once its over I move on. It's not like I have any control over it anyway.

I’ve learned to embrace the crazies and just laugh at them. If you’re relaxed the game day threads are quality entertainment. Every point is the life and death of the program for someone, every play is another reason to fire everyone, etc.

It’s a good reminder just how ridiculous it is to put too much of yourself into a game you have no control of.

I'm working on being a bit more like this, its definitely easier for football. I don't understand this entitlement ISU fans have, I started going to games as a kid, my folks were season tickets holders starting in the late 70's. I started going during the Kriener years so I think my expectations aren't as high for football and at the end of the day, this program is still in the best shape its been in my lifetime, there is a ton to be positive about going forward.

I’m assuming you meant 2002? Because I was there for 2003 and I don’t think anyone had high hopes for that 2 win team.

Went into bunker mentality right after the game last night. No Twitter, CF, Sports Center, local news, etc, etc.
Finally checked in here at 4 pm today. Not sure that was the best idea, lots of over reacting anger.
We went to my nephew's last night for a family watch party. Walked in the door and his black lab excited to greet company came running, jumped up and smacked me right in the nuts! Set the tone for the rest of the evening. ISU fans should wear nut cups everywhere, every time!!
Won't be watching Sound Off tonight for sure! Rarely do if Hoks win and ISU losses....

Tonight I made a conscious decision to stay off of CF and Twitter for the entire game. I went to a buddy's house and left my phone in the car.

While I love most of you fanatics, I realized the game seemed to matter less when I didn't have people making immediate comments about every play. My friend, who is a casual fan, just watched without commenting on every minor detail. It was odd... And refreshing.

When I came home my wife was watching Netflix and asked how the game was. I said it sucked and she said "yeah" and started talking about Christmas presents.

My point is a purposeful avoidance of the emotions made the game more fun to watch, if you can believe it. After the game I went in Twitter and saw people talking about firing coaches, etc and I realized I can't control any of it. So why let it ruin my night/weekend/winter.

I think all of us should try a total avoidance at least once next year. See if it changes your perspective.

I usually stay off Cyclonefanatic for 1 day following a loss. I don't mind reading critiques of players or coaches, but avoiding that first day seems to filter out all the thoughtless, emotional meltdown posts.

Social media is the cause of everything bad in society...just look at the divide on e everything in the US and around the world. Nobody enjoys hearing opinions that don’t match their own.

Ted Kaczynski was right, technology will be mankind's downfall. And Mike Judge's movie Idiocracy is going to prove accurate unless human beings do not exist in 500 years, which I would bet on.

We made the trip out to Manhattan and realized if we're just going to get a win then we're doing it wrong. Luckily we had fun getting good BBQ, road tripping, tailgating, and swimming with the kiddos in the hotel.

Maybe Life is bigger than football in Ames,IA....but it sure isn't that way in Lincoln, Nebraska...LOL The Nebr. fanbase wants poor old Scott Frost FIRED ...well... like...Yesterday. Yes with the entrance into the B1G the glory days are gone forever....or at least until they can resurrect another Devaney or Osborne....Good Luck with that my friends and relatives.

Just think back to the day when 25,000 would show up to JTS, some what bags over their heads. We'd get kicked in the pants 52-3 at home and there was little to no hope.

Flash forward to now, it does not matter who we play or where we play. ISU will be within striking distance to win even if they play poorly. I never thought I'd see the day when we have a chance to win every game.
