***2026 Winter Olympics (Milano Cortina) Thread***

I don't care if I have to surrender may man card, the 20 minutes I just watched of mixed doubles Curling between USA and Italy during lunch was more exciting than the whole Super Bowl yesterday! What a finish! Korey and Corey going for the gold against Sweden tomorrow morning!

I don’t see how they can sweep as much as they can and avoid running into the stones.

I love how it becomes the most exciting sport in the world for a couple weeks every four years.

The 5000-meters speed skating is a contender for most boring event. I think it's because it's just the two of them. They need to put like eight skaters out there at once and get some Mario Kart action going, like snowboardcross.

The mass start speed skating event is up to 24 people at the same time for 6400m. We'll get men's and women's mass start on Feb 21.

Looks like it'll be 16 at the same time for the women and 18 for the men.

That's what short-track speed skating is for.

111m per lap compared to 400m
4 on the ice (up to 8 at a time briefly during the relays)
One wipeout can take out the field

That part in that miller video cracked me up where he went into a tuck for a couple of seconds on one ski. I bet he did that as a wtf why not moment. It also reminded me of that Kevin Na horrendous hole video where he had a 16 He finally had a good shot like on shot 14 and did the club spin after hitting the ball

I was just there for work a few weeks ago. I'm sure they had it cleaned up and dressed up nicer than usual with the Olympics looming, but it was an absolutely fantastic city.
