They sneak by these last 2 games and now watch they will probably boat race us in the Gold Medal game if we get there.

Is it just me, or is this a nightmare of a uniform match up in the US hockey game? Really hard to tell the teams apart as these guys are flying around.
I think the solid blue at the top of the white jerseys and the sold white at the top of the blue jerseys is the biggest problem.
I've never played hockey, so maybe someone who has can help me. On a shot like that, is MacKinnon actually aiming at that tiny gap? Or is he aiming just inside the post and hoping the goalie wont get over to cover? Or is he aiming at the goal in general and just hoping the puck finds a hole?
The gap that puck fit through was like 2" wide. Same thing with the women's winning goal yesterday when the puck just squeeze through the goalie's armpit.
For me he sees the goalie facing the other way his weight is shifted. 30 years ago that is a hit and hope shot from me but he sees it he hits it before the goalie can shift his weight back to cover. These kids shoot the puck so much harder than we ever did it is quite amazing.
I saw a Canadian post yesterday saying that the USA deflected goal 6-5 by Knight was a fluke she knew nothing about it. It was absolutely 100% meant and executed perfectly. She was the screen she was the tip.
I think Keller's goal was a missed 5 holer (btw goalies legs) but she did lift it some so only she knows.

With a guy like Mackinnon it’s hard to tell because he is a player good enough to be aiming for a 2 inch gap and nail it. But most likely he’s aiming for as tight to the post as he can. It probably should’ve been a save but right above the pads and below the blocker tends to have a small gap goalies don’t cover well
I, for one, am looking forward to Sunday morning breakfast and the Gold Medal men's hockey game between the US and Canada*. Hockey doesn't get much better than US v. Canada in the Olympics.
