Weird to get excited about a back that will be 31yo at the start of the season and coming off what would have been the worst full season of his career had he not missed the last 6 games. Good news is he would be cheap, but it all depends on whether NO is willing to eat another $8-9m in cap hit to move him.

Not a lot of excitement about this from the local media. But we need another RB. Running injury-prone Dobbins and gadget guy Harvey back is not a great plan for a glaring weakness on the team.

Oof for the Raiders. They just spent a ton of money in part due to Crosby money being off the books. Now they are possibly stuck with him and the big cap hit and that relationship has to be in a tough spot. Still a very good player of course but everyone will assume he’s damaged goods, so trade value is in the tank.

Yep, not good for the Raiders, but what is the Ravens thinking, everyone knew his knee problems, sounds like it is not very serious and will be fine once the season starts. Go in and clean up the knee, sounds more like the Ravens came to the conclusion they overpaid in dollars and draft picks when they could have just signed someone else.

I think you’re right. They saw Hendrickson wasn’t going to cost as much money as they thought, so he was a better value than two firsts for a Crosby. That’s what it looks like to me at least.

Cannot pass a physical is a really weak reason, unless it something major that the Raiders did not tell them before hand. Hate to say it, but every player in the league that has played as long as Crosby has health issues. Reminds me of Miami and Saban wanted to sign Drew Brees when he was a FA and their medical staff refused to sign off on the deal. He went on to the Saints and had a HOF career.

Brees was a little different cause he was a FA. The Dolphins only screwed themselves there. This really screwed the Raiders. They had already been making other moves with the understanding that Crosby would be off the books/they’d have multiple first round picks this year.

That's why I am inclined to think it's real. The Raiders were relying on this deal to work. If they thought they were being (illegitimately) jobbed by the Ravens, they'd be screaming to high heavens about it.

Maybe not, but everyone knows that the trade isn't done until the player passes a physical for his new team. How would you do anything about that? Someone else's medical staff might be fine with Crosby as is.

So much wrong with trying to accuse the Ravens of something nefarious here.

First off, having the Crosby deal in place chewed up a significant amount of their planned cap space and screwed their first few days of FA. They let a bunch of talent walk that they might have made stronger plays to resign with an additional $30mil of cap space (Linderbaum, Likely, Kolar, Ricard, Gilman) and/or they might have pivoted to other high profile free agents that were now off the board. So you wouldn't intentionally tank your FA process.

Second, I'm willing to bet they'd much rather have a healthy Crosby than Hendrickson on comparable deals even with the trade considerations. I'd say Crosby is fairly widely viewed as a little bit better player than Hendrickson, he's also three years younger and Hendrickson is coming off a season where he missed most of the year with injury in his own right.

The Raven's also have never traded a first round pick for a veteran player, so they wouldn't have made the original decision lightly and it's a big deal to turn back on it now. Instead of reaching, it seems pretty clear that Crosby's knee is far more of a question mark than a regular meniscus repair would indicate on the surface. The Raven's decided they couldn't live with that risk at that trade cost and then, given the fact that most of the high end FA process had already played out, pivoted to the next best option available. Now that doesn't mean it worked out poorly for them, but it was clearly not their plan.
