***2026 NCAA WBB Tournament Thread***

I don’t know about that… I think that’s unfair to FDU. Yes the Big Ten is a meat grinder, and yes, based on the first round games it appears it wasn’t propaganda. The Big Ten has looked pretty kick ass, both of men and women.

In fact, you could say Iowa had looked the worst in the 1st round. However, as a longtime fan, I am absolutely giddy that they kept their composure and just kept hammering defensively!!!

I’ve seen some of my favorite teams cave in that kind of scenario before. As I said earlier, I was moving around the house, doing projects putting a bed together, etc., etc. with earbuds in listening to music, but it doesn’t appear to me they ever seemed like they were actually rattled.
I said that as a joke.

I said that as a joke.

Well jokes should be obvious… And the Big Ten was a meat grinder. Maybe you’re one of those that likes to tell himself it wasn’t, but that’s pretty much a forego conclusion at this point…. If Illinois beats Colorado and I expect it, they will have gone 11 and 12 in the first round, in number 12 Nebraska after having to play a play in game, took Baylor to the wire.

No Iowa fan should be upset about that game… (well outside of those with heart conditions) They showed incredible composure and played absolutely sensational defense.

That’s the key to winning….

I forget sometimes where I’m posting

Poor Clemson. Girl makes buzzer beater and gets a foul called but the replay shows she released it too late and call off the foul then lose in overtime.

Higher seeds go 29-3 in the first round.

9 Syracuse, 9 USC, and 10 Virginia are the only lower seeds to advance.

This entire tournament has mostly been a snooze fest.
Par for the course for the women's tournament....there are never upsets and no, I don't count 9's over 8's to be "upsets"...there are never Cinderella's in the women's tournament...the gap in talent in the women's game even from good to great teams is like the size of the Grand Canyon

Yes….if my math is correct there are 31 teams left from The Big 12, SEC, ACC & BIG and then UCONN…. These next couple rounds should be interesting.

And if there's any consolation in our team losing tonight it's that we won't have to suffer through watching them get beat by 50 against UConn

Sigh….you about everyone else except UCLA…it’s just how it is. Between them & UCLA, they have about 10 future WNBAers on the teams….at least. Hell UCLA has potentially 4; maybe 5, 1st rounders for next year, and another 2nd rounder & Sarah Strong is the best player in women’s basketball, and Azzi Fudd maybe 2nd.

"Chalkiest" first rounds since the expansion to 64 (in 1994):
31-1: 2024
30-2: 1997
30-2: 2003 (predetermined sites; some neutral sites, some low-seed hosts)
29-3: 2008 (predetermined sites; some neutral sites, some low-seed hosts)
29-3: 2021 (bubble tournament)
29-3: 2026
28-4: five times, most recently 2025

First round records by low seeds, 1994-present:
16: 1-127 (.008)
15: 0-128 (.000)
14: 0-128 (.000)
13: 7-121 (.055)
12: 27-101 (.211)
11: 37-91 (.289)

Maryland is the strangest women’s basketball team in the world to me. And I don’t know if anybody was watching, but Brenda freeze literally undressed her star player about mid third-quarter…. She was almost nose to nose with her.

Seems to have worked
