***2026 NCAA MBB coaching carousel***

I guess I didn't realize that was much of a step up, if at all. Maybe he just wants to live there.

I bet these "lateral moves" happen much more frequently going forward. My guess is Charleston will commit more resources for Groce than Akron would so he's making the jump. Schools that won't continue to increase investments in basketball are going to have a harder and harder time, even at the lower levels.

Probably a HC in waiting thing.

I'll be a "sky is falling" on this one. But with Rev Share and NIL it's better off to be a top assistant at P5 schools vs, head coach at G5/mid-majors. The exceptions are a few schools that have proven to be coaching cradles (aka Gonzaga, USD, UNM, USU, VCU, UNLV, Memphis),

But otherwise most mid-major leagues are now 1 bid leagues with 12+ schools. The money is better being a P5 top assistant vs. mid-major HC. And at a mid-major a coach is going to lose their best players to the portal. A G5/mid-major coach really has to love chaos & recruiting.
