That would be an outstanding hire if they can make it happen.
I’d certainly be interested to see how that’d go. Bennett is a great coach obviously but no spring chicken. Recruiting to the Big XII level is definitely a huge change from St Mary’s way of doing things as well.

Sounds like a great hire to me.

Would be curious how much money Bennett had at St. Mary's for revenue share. Idaho made their first tournament in like 30 years and the announcers mentioned they have $0 of rev share and coach has got it done mainly recruiting in-state players.

Bennett might see that it's becoming impossible to keep his best players. And he also was very successful at St. Mary's recruiting international players. Not that international players can earn NIL and revenue share- his job has gotten tougher. So maybe he's decided if you can't beat-em, join-em.

IMO he would be a great coach at ASU. He has an eye for talent and has won with his system. It's not for every player- but there is a lot of HS talent in that area of the country and Phoenix is not a bad place to recruit to. I checked his wiki and he's only 63, so not unrealistic he has 6-7 years left coaches. Also noticed he was born & grew up in Mesa, AZ.

So biggest hurdle he faces is making sure ASU is going to give him the financial and facilities to compete in the Big12.

For years he had a lot of Australians on his teams.

Can you imagine BM telling Peterson he has to bounce the air out the ball and not shoot until they have 5 seconds left on the shot clock? Or dealing with his load management?
He didn't play like this every year at NW, I think he'd adapt quickly
