No, most really don't. If they cut Love after 2026, his dead cap is a little over $31 million. His contract run for 2 years past that. There are some weird void years they throw on after 2028, but none of that is real. Love's is actually one of the more reasonable ones, but like most of them, the cap hit doesn't really spike until about year 4 or 5 at which point they will probably extend again if things are going well.These giant QB contracts also have horrific dead caps tacked on to the end... Jordan Love, for example will cost GB $50M for three years beyond his contract length.
Another way to say this is you can make a roster competitive today with good but not great QB's, it just comes at the mercy of cancer to your roster mgmt planning when they leave the team...
There are only 2 current QB's in the NFL worth mega deals IMO (Allen/Mahomes)
The single worst QB contracts right now are Deshaun Watson and Dak Prescott when you factor in every thing. Mahomes is about due for a massive rework of his whole contract and both Allen and Lamar will see rising cap hits in the next year necessitating it as well.
