***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

Depending on the draft compensation, I'd be fine with it. Greenard wants more money (deservedly so), and the Vikings are in a tight cap spot with a young guy in Dallas Turner ready for more snaps. Love Greenard and hope hes a Viking, but I would understand if they trade him
Knowing the Vikings they would use the draft pick on a 265 lb OT fresh off his 5th knee surgery

It's going to take the Vikings a good 5 years or so to dig out of the Kwesi debacle. I like KOC, so I hope he can weather the storm.

It is wild how hopeless I feel about the future compared to one year ago today...
Glass half full optimist outlook is:
  • Cap only looks rough in 2026/27, beyond that it's not too bad
  • O'Neil's an UFA after this year. With a good year, his cap hit goes down and he's still only 31
  • Dallas Turner could be ready for that next step (He's cheap for 3 more years)
    • Possible Greenard trade wouldn't hurt as bad
  • McCarthy is either the guy or you can "cheaply" get out of that contract after this season
  • 9 draft picks is way more than last year and the most in several years (2025-5, 2024-7, 2023-6)
  • Darrisaw is still a top 10 LT (Needs to stay healthy)
  • Hock is a UFA after the year, that's $15.6M in cap for 2027
  • Aaron Jones is a 2027 UFA, with no dead cap after the year
  • Still have one of, or the best WR in the NFL in Jets
  • Still have one of, or the best DC in the NFL in Flores
  • KOC has a good track record
  • Division doesn't scare me long-term
    • Bears are not a serious franchise until the current ownership is gone
    • Lions window is closed after this year, plus Goff is an above average QB with a horrendous contract
    • Packers are always good but no one thinks Love is in that elite QB category

I like the positivity. But, ultimately, both the lines need serious improvement, and KOC is living off his rep with a a couple initial years that looked paper-like with the early playoff losses. Is he a good HC or simply a great QB coach? Can he actually manage a game once it gets going? Can he inspire greatness or just hug guys at his player-friendly Vikings country club? Much maturity and improvement to show.

I like KOC as well, but I'm not sure it's a done deal that he is some offensive genius and QB whisperer. Rams have been really good without KOC. Cousins basically played at a similar solid level as he did under the previous regime. Darnold got even better last year with Seattle. All the other QBs have pretty much been a dumpster fire.

It's hard to say still at this point, as think pretty much the QB performance under KOC with the Rams and Vikings have been pretty much on par with the QBs' track records outside of playing for KOC.

Darnold’s individual stats were better as a Viking, including throwing for 10 more TDs than he did in Seattle.

Well, Seattle actually had a running game and used it. I wouldn't suggest that Darnold is a great QB but a good one. While he clearly stunk in his last two games as a Viking - whuppings by DET and LAR (playoffs) - KOC was the one calling the plays and making absolutely no adjustments. Common theme there when Wentz was injured and nearly getting decapitated this year v. LA and literally no adjustments made... also kept trying to do deep stuff when JJ clearly wasn't ready and the line doesn't protect. Loves to try cute stuff on 3rd/4th and short...KOC has much to prove.

Sounds like Greenard may already be traded to Philadelphia. The Ollie dude says it and then Ledyard says, "is that out yet or are you breaking news?" And Ollie says, "it's not out yet? Oops."

Boom or bust type it appears.

Big men with feet problem generally doesn't turn out well though.
