***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

I would hope that the people running a roster understand and act out that your ego does not matter to on-field results. Playing the hot hand is part of the gig, that's how all other lower drafted and UDFA players break out to have careers. They have to play to show the potential being unlocked. If Max Brosmer is somehow an NFL QB right now, then let him be an NFL QB. As long as you win games that way, the rest of the details don't matter.

My suspicion is the people seeing him in practice everyday know he has deficiencies to be exploited as a regular, green starter in the NFL and they also don't want to give off the mirage of a UDFA winning one surprise game, then turning back into Carson Wentz after that when teams get tape on him and his tendencies.
You are completly correct. But egos are a crazy thing. Coaches/GMs have done dumber things because of an ego.

Once the game was out of hand (half time, honestly), and it was clear Wentz was dragging his left arm, put Brosmer in. Even if he lights it up and then turns into Josh Dobbs next week, at least you will know. But you never find out what he can do if he stands on the sideline.

Listened to part of Kfan this morning, the head coach said the team was not prepared for the game, so this was his fault. But that doesn’t fix guys hurt and guys not playing well.

What was the reasoning the Vikings cut Sam Howell for Wentz right before the season? Howell isn't the greatest QB ever but he can sling it around the field and had some huge passing numbers that year he was the starter in Washington.

He would have been a huge upgrade on whatever they are throwing out there now.

So, then I’m wondering why Kelly doesn’t wear the added protection on his helmet if he’s had so many previous concussions?

Every other first round QB from 2024 is currently starting and playing relatively well-ish for their teams, except for JJM. Scriptwriters couldn't have come up with a more Vikings ending if they tried.

However, most of them took more than one year of starting and playing to show signs of putting it together.
Penix and Williams haven't been super impressive, or at least not very consistently yet. Daniels, Nix and Maye have been pretty good.

Yeah, I remember Tark running around in the backfield and finally throwing a screen pass on the one yard line against The Bears. Announcers went nuts because nobody threw a one yard screen pass back in the day. Was before the AFL opened things up with the pass. Fran was a small guy too.
Fran was a scrambling Freak, at the time.
"Inevitable sacks?" Nope. This alone broke defenses.

Ps. Did Bud Grant usher in the era of sideline "casual dress? (sweatshirt n bb cap).

What a mess. Had to keep going out there because he was the only option. No wonder he looked worse every game. Guess we'll see what JJ's really got coming up!

Yeah he was in immense pain Thursday Night. Felt bad for the guy.

I actually started to wonder last night if it is the first of these. Some of the folks on KFAN have hinted at the same this morning. It really shouldn't be a factor - but egos and perception truly matter. If Brosmer goes out and plays well, how do you justify taking him out for JJ? Then you have an UFA as your QB and have failed with a top 10 pick at QB that you scouted, and studied. Given the dreadful results of that regime's draft classes so far, this would just add more fuel to the fire of them being awful at evaluating talent for a draft. Again, it sounds insane because the #1 job of a franchise is to find your franchise QB - no matter where you find him - but egos and perception matter. I REALLY hope that isn't the reason he's not playing, but it really is the only thing that makes sense at this point.

San Francisco survived as a franchise when this happens, just win baby

I feel awful for Wentz. He wasn't great, but no player should have been put in the position he was. This is entirely on KOC. Honestly, my belief in KOC has taken a massive hit the last few weeks. And the way the entire organization has handled the QB situation (from Darnold, Jones, Rodgers to McCarthy, Wentz, and Brosmer) has been a disaster. It is the stuff that gets coaches and GMs fired.

They best pay that man. At his age that could have easily ended his career.
