***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

Since the Vikings drafted McCarthy, they have played 25 games. McCarthy has played in less than 2 of those games. The injury pedigree is quite strong in him. I'm getting the sinking feeling this will be his MO. Hope I'm wrong.
He was never going to play last season regardless, there's no point in factoring that in. They never intended to start him day one after draft.

That said, getting hurt twice is getting hurt twice and the best ability is availability. There's not much you can glean from that during a draft, though. It looks like he didn't miss a single game in college.

Less than half the QBs taken in the first round of the draft pan out to become productive NFL players, the key if you take one is to make that decision within a couple of years, if he is your guy and if not, then move on to someone else. It's the most important position in the game, it's looking like McCarthy is more of a bust than the savior.

Clearly Wentz was in no condition to be out there.... why the hec Brosmer wasn't trotted out there sooner is beyond me.
Because KOC doesn't want eyes on the UDFA playing better than a top 10 pick. Or... the UDFA isn't ready to play.

Real answer: 'cuz Wentz never knows when to stop and never quits on the game regardless of how ****** up his body is. That's a known thing for his whole career, he tries to play through ANYTHING.

Being real, KOC should've pulled him by halftime or so and let whatever happens after that with Brosmer happen. They know that JJM is planning to play next game anyway, you don't need to change that at all. All we got last night was multiple highlights and slow-mo replays of Wentz in visible pain, and then Herbstreit chastising him for his sideline behavior while in this condition.

Every other first round QB from 2024 is currently starting and playing relatively well-ish for their teams, except for JJM. Scriptwriters couldn't have come up with a more Vikings ending if they tried.

However, most of them took more than one year of starting and playing to show signs of putting it together.

Herbie is THE consummate douche all things football.

Once the Pick 6 was deemed an incomplete pass and SD methodically marched down the field, you could see the team just deflate in front of your eyes.

Is it just me, or do the Vikings never seem to get a thursday night game at home? They got thumped last year by the Rams on Thursday at SOFI, too. They are now 0-8 on thursday games. Awesome.

It has not been talked about enough how absolutely terrible MIN's schedule has been. That's been completely lost in the JJM drama.

Schedule:
MNF with a new QB against a decent team
SNF against what has proven to be a decent team and a great defense
Bad team
Overseas Game
Overseas Game
Defending Super Bowl champions
TNF 2 times zones away
Next game: top-tier NFC team away

Like, holy ****.

It's not getting better!

I actually started to wonder last night if it is the first of these. Some of the folks on KFAN have hinted at the same this morning. It really shouldn't be a factor - but egos and perception truly matter. If Brosmer goes out and plays well, how do you justify taking him out for JJ? Then you have an UFA as your QB and have failed with a top 10 pick at QB that you scouted, and studied. Given the dreadful results of that regime's draft classes so far, this would just add more fuel to the fire of them being awful at evaluating talent for a draft. Again, it sounds insane because the #1 job of a franchise is to find your franchise QB - no matter where you find him - but egos and perception matter. I REALLY hope that isn't the reason he's not playing, but it really is the only thing that makes sense at this point.

Well one of the guys they signed has had roughly 37 concussions, and shockingly, got another concussion. His career is probably over. Good use of money.
O'Neil is a walking injury now, and honestly has not been great when he is in. Fries has been decent. The rookie Jackson was hurt a bit but has shown promise. And Darrisaw still isn't playing full games. It is a dumpster fire. The bigger issue is we have ZERO depth because we have drafted so poorly.
Why doesn’t O’Neill wear a helmet with the extra padding on the outside that I’ve seen more of lately?

I would hope that the people running a roster understand and act out that your ego does not matter to on-field results. Playing the hot hand is part of the gig, that's how all other lower drafted and UDFA players break out to have careers. They have to play to show the potential being unlocked. If Max Brosmer is somehow an NFL QB right now, then let him be an NFL QB. As long as you win games that way, the rest of the details don't matter.

My suspicion is the people seeing him in practice everyday know he has deficiencies to be exploited as a regular, green starter in the NFL and they also don't want to give off the mirage of a UDFA winning one surprise game, then turning back into Carson Wentz after that when teams get tape on him and his tendencies.
