***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

I'm guessing the conversation was something like, "We'll give you 15M and you'll be the backup or half-year bridge at best." Rodgers would respond with, "I deserve more than double that amount, I have the best chance of getting you to the Super Bowl, and the Steelers want me." And they moved on.

I would think they would now sign Drew Lock, Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco or Tyler Huntley (maybe Ryan Tannehill if he decides to return). I'd like to put Trey Lance in there too but I think it will be somebody with a pretty good amount of starting experience.

What I heard is that Minnesota is waiting until after the draft to sign a qb to get a compensatory pick for next draft.

I don't think Kwesi is the right guy. He's done some good things, but he completely whiffed on that 1st draft class. That is coming back haunt the Vikings badly. There is reason why the Wilfs have not backed him.

His first draft class didn't turn out good, that's the truth, but drafting is not the only way to build a team, and he has been exemplary in other facets. The free agent class last year was one of the best we've ever seen. And this year looks to be fantastic so far. Our cap situation is in great shape. We've got talent all over the field. He's done very well with UDFAs. And he's milking the compensatory pick system as well.

I can understand that the initial draft class might have left a sour taste in people's mouths, but no objective view of his tenure, at this point, equates to "fire his ass". Not even close

Ben Goessling hinted on PA's show yesterday that the Vikings are going to trade with a team for a veteran back up...wouldn't give any more details because he didn't want a social media blow up, but said you could look at which NFL teams have vet back ups and connect the dots.

I'm guessing he was referring to Cousins. Kirko may have realized that he's relegated to being a back up at this point in his career...and he'd rather do it with KOC than in Atlanta.

Looks like if Kirko is traded then his base salary with the new team would be $27.5M, but the trade partner could force Atlanta to eat some of that as part of the deal.

Point taken. He did strike gold with last year's FA signings... but we all know that does not always work every year. His drafting has been very hit and miss, so he needs to be stellar at signing free agents. I am concerned with the lack of draft capital... you sometimes need that to make good player acquisitions. It is the Wilfs team and not mine, so it's up to them. They did extend KOC, but not Kwesi... that tells me they may be ready to move on. I will give Kwesi some credit: It appears they are passing on bringing in Rodgers.

I think Kwesi's done pretty well outside of his first draft, which was an undeniable bust. He's been a god damn wizard in free agency. I'd give him a B overall so far, with plenty of signs that he's learning from his mistakes and growing into a very good GM.

I also think he and KOC are very much on the same page. That absolutely matters.

Kwesi has done a god tier job with cap and contract management. Fantastic job, arguably one of the best in the league in that area (and did so without tanking, on top of that). Couldn't have asked for a whole lot more there.

Kwesi has flat out failed at the draft so far, not just his first season. And, he still has a lot on the line from last year's "Incomplete" as JJ will play this year and Turner will hopefully step up. Kwesi's very good at the FA game, clearly, but you can't get extended success without strongly drafting. The $s just don't add up.

Even with this year's FA signings, he's banking a lot on guys coming back from injury.
 
Rondale Moore signed. I'm under no illusions that he's going to come in and be an upper echelon receiver, but that's not what they're going to ask him to do. He'll be a nice 3rd or 4th WR. Can be an asset in the return game and brings a ton of speed. It'd be nice if someone other than JJ and JA would step up at that position. Rondale has the tools of he can stay healthy and put it all together

He should be a quality slot guy. Run Jet sweeps and the like

He's been an A in cap management and FA in my opinion.

But right now in three drafts you can probably say Addison was a good pick, with a few like Chandler and Nailor as decent. When one of your better outcomes is picking Ed Ingram in the 2nd and being able to get some albeit bad starts and a 6th rounder for him, that's saying something.

If it turns into another draft stretch like 2016-2019, then the Vikes are going to be in trouble. There's a ton riding on JJ and this draft as well.y Turner needs to make a big jump this year too.

Addison has been more than a “good pick” IMO. If you put the off - field stuff aside.

I am taking into account being a 1st rounder, but yes it was still a hell of a pick.

Jefferson, Addison, Moore and Hockenson are one hell of a set of weapons for JJ.

Hockensen was not good last year coming off his injury. He will hopefully step it up this year.

One of the comments at the bottom of the article made me laugh.

The Vikings insurance broker is recalculating their Workers Compensation premium at this moment.
