I'm not a real farmer, but when we bought our acreage, we acquired this 1954 Ford Jubilee for $1 at closing. I had a love/hate relationship with it. The points were finicky, and out of frustration, I once marched off 10 paces, turned, and hurled a hammer at this thing when it wouldn't start. That episode brought her around.
Once I got the points dialed in, she was quite reliable. We put in big gardens and a small vineyard with it. Sold it last year so I could upgrade to a safer, newer tractor with HST. We live on hilly ground, and I have always thought the the old jubilee would eventually kill me (no power steering, so-so brakes, and every fuel bowl ever made for these things leaks gas out the bottom). She gave us 12 good years though.

I agree and like your point. It's what I was saying in the other thread about it being deemed "political" because of derogatory comments made about one party and not the thread itself. I'll leave it there because I don't want to sabotage this thread.
anyone built their own RTK system?... i know in the flatlands this is easy. But in steep ridges of the Loess Hills, RTK service is spotty, cell service is spotty.. You can build your own RTK base for ~$1000. no subscription fees. Just needs power and internet... Here is a website that I designed to model RTK coverage.

I know you sold it but for next to nothing you can put electronic ignition on virtually anything with a distributor now and leave most of these headaches behind.
I have looked into it. I built an autosteer system and have used the DOT's network for trying out RTK but I am about 20 miles from their nearest base. The accuracy would be better if I did my own, just haven't taken the time

There doesn't need to be an investigation. The laws are on the books and they aren't in compliance. All they have to do is enforce. That's what's so infuriating.
Nothing will be enforced, you've been around long enough to know this. I've just become immune to it, disappointed but given up caring. Lots of talk never any action. Congress DOJ none of them care the bribes from big Ag are worth more than law enforcement
It might not be outright bribes but campaign donations, hey we're good acquaintances why don't you borrow my condo in Aruba for a couple weeks.
Picked up most of our corn(32 bags still not in) and have started replacing sweeps on the field cultivator.
Planter hooked up and serviced, same with the field cultivator. As long as the weather cooperates we should be ready to roll on the 10th.
Never want to wish ill-will on anyone but he either just moved here from Texas, was diagnosed with a fatal illness and figures this is his last go round, or saw a solid forecast with no field work opportunities for the next 8 weeks. I thought I took a big risk planting my garden potatoes on Monday and I had only my time invested. Good luck??
Really not much risk in planting beans early anymore TBH. If you plant treated seed, most of the seed companies cover your replant cost so all that you are out is your time and fuel. Most guys planting early see the potential upside as being greater than the cost of fuel. As long as the seed companies are ok being used as crop insurance, the trend will continue.

Spent the first part of the week seeding and Curlexing new waterways. Stapled the **** out of them. Reinforced heavily with waddle logs. Now to see if they hold up in the 3 days of rain.
Not to be argumentative but how many acres have you or your neighbors put in if that is considered sound logic?
I do not farm, but I am in the seed industry. Not a ton of acres in yet, but I do know of some folks that dropped a few beans in this week and likely will do some more next week if ground conditions get fit after this rain, before the next.
