2026 concerts

Agreed. Last year the walk from the 1-Day GA parking to the amphitheater was BRUTAL. I didn't realize they had chosen a completely new spot for the main stage this year, so I was getting ready for the long walk again when suddenly the entrance showed up. The new spot allows for a HUGE concourse, and while it was crowded again this year, it didn't feel nearly as suffocating. (The temps helped.)

We went yesterday for Day 3. I only went because my wife wanted to see Bleachers and Lana del Ray, but my expectations for Bleachers was way to low, they knocked their set out of the park! They were so fun. Lana was good too, made for a nice nightcap. We didn't stay for the whole thing, we wanted to get ahead of traffic, which sounds like it sucked leaving again. (Some people couldn't get out of the lots until 2-3am.)
We left after Summertime Sadness. I was looking at the set list and thought it would get us ahead of some of the crowd, but ended up in the marking lot about 2 hrs. The logistics out of the parking lot are horrible. We did the shuttle last year and I opted not to this year, but I think if we go again we will do the shuttle again.

The new set up is great, but the weather was so much better. They had some good cooling stations and the merch tents were shaded.

Just park in St. Charles and walk. There are lots of people who offer up cheap parking there. It's not a bad walk and there are tons of people running UTVs back and for a tip. You can pull right out and take backroads.

Cake at the Astro Amphitheater in La Vista last night. They were really good! There were maybe 3 songs all night that I didn’t recognize. Guess I didn’t expect them to be so old just because they were popular in the 2000’s. But the lead singer is 60. Venue is brand new and a good place to see a concert. Maybe seats 500 at most. Thinking about going back in July to catch Blues Traveler, Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors.

You should go! I saw Blues Traveler, Gin Blossoms, and Spin Doctors a couple Saturdays ago at Ravinia outside Chicago and they were great. I saw Cake at Ravinia a couple years ago and has to be one of my favorite concerts. Great 90's bands!!

Saw Ghost at Fiserv in Milwaukee last week. First show I've been to that phones were banned. They all had to be placed in Yondr pouches at entry. So you scanned your tickets, they printed a "receipt" of sorts with your seat location and then they placed your phone in a pouch that was locked and could only be unlocked at specific locations in the arena if needed and/or upon exit after the show.

Resulted in me having no pictures/videos of what was an AMAZING live show, but was a really cool/unique experience. The crowd seemed infinitely more engaged with the music/performance than normal. Anyone else have similar experiences with phone-free events? I really enjoyed it.

Yes, Jack White used the locking pouches at his show in Omaha and pretty much any show with one of Maynard’s bands will kick you out if they catch you using a phone. Personally I like having less distractions and nobody holding up their phone blocking your view.

Garth did that at the Coliseum in Vegas. It didn't bug me one way or the other.

I could see comedians really wanting to do this to limit their uploads to YT.

Just saw Ghost at the St. Paul show. Agree, the no phone thing is actually kind of great. Don't have to see hundreds of screens recording the concert and can just enjoy the show. Also, Ghost is amazing live. Great stage, great visuals, great music. All around a great concert.

I don't know if anyone going to Dublin saw that Father John Misty will be in town the night after the game. We're going to the Cliffs of Moher on a tour that day and won't be back in time, and I'm bummed about it.

Just saw Glass Animals at the Armory in Mpls. Sold out Monday night show and was pretty damn good. Would highly recommend the band and the venue.
Saw Glass Animals at Steelhouse in Omaha, Which is a lot like Waukee's Vibrant. Great Venue, Great Show. Glass Animals puts on a show! Someone pulled the fire alarm during the set and they had to leave for a bit, but came back, They played Vampire Bat the new single for us as a special surprise because of the delay. Great New Song! Highly recommend both Glass Animals and Steelhouse.

Of Monsters and Men is going to be at Palace Theater in St. Paul. Got tickets to them as well. Never been to that venue but looks like a cool historical venue. Anyone seen a show there?

Anybody know anything about Whitey Morgan and the 78s? Ended up with free tickets to see them in Dubuque tonight. Free is free but are they any good?

New age country it appears...

Haven't been to the venue but saw Of Monsters and Men 10 years ago and while they sounded great, they didn't have any stage presence. Basically just stood up there and played. Hopefully they've evolved and put on a better show.
