A&M was playing desperate and ultra aggressive down the stretch during the comeback, and as such, they were fouling Houston every rebound and every defensive possession but never whistled for it. On the other end, Houston seemed to get called every time they touched and A&M player. It was a rough watch.

As someone who has officiated for 20 years, this is the argument I hate most. The players do decide the outcome when they foul. Not calling the foul is deciding the outcome the other direction.
A foul is arbitrary. You can call a foul on literally every possession. All I'm saying is the refs should stay out of the way and not make the game about them or a controversial call.
And what I’m saying is there is not a single official who goes into a game trying to do this, regardless of what is portrayed amongst fans/media.
Are there controversial calls? Yes. But there are also equally bad plays that happened that lead up to it by the players and bad decisions made by coaches.
And I will say as well, a lot of “controversial” calls are made as such due to ignorance of rules by fans or even coaches. Most fans have a general idea of rules, not what is actually in the rulebook.
Edit: I do think officials should have to answer to media after the game if requested. I don’t like the pool reporter crap. Admit if you were wrong or make a case why you were right.

Padilla is a good official when placed with a good crew IMO. He is a sub-par official when he’s with a sub-par crew. He feels like he needs to over cover.
I never said all officials are perfect, but I still don’t think he goes into a game wanting to be “the show”. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, obviously. However, I think perception plays a big part of that line of thought. People expect him to turn it into a ref show, because he has at times done that, so anything they can use to fulfill their preconceived notion, they will use.
this court is cool, but the gray is just so blah. i guess it makes the colored jerseys stand out more, but i really wish the court was more vivid and colorful with its effects.
They could do some cool things with it for sure. If done right, it could bring in some casual fans. People eat that corny stuff up.
maybe it is more of a show during timeouts and pregame when the tv broadcast isn't showing it.
That would be cool. It would help keep people engaged with what’s happening on the floor instead of their phones

Though at the same time, the tournament is 90% a tv product. If its not delivering that for the tv audience, there's not much point.
I'm not good with irony, but is it Ironic that we have to turn the court into a giant screen, so people put down their small screens?
It would be hilarious if someone hacked the computer that controlled the floor graphics and put Jerome Tang's face on the floor.

Baylor's fall has been enjoyable. Houston and Arizona joining has softened the blow of losing a good program for the league.
I’ll be interested to hear players comments on it following the tournament. Does the ball bounce the same? Do you slide more on it? Just seems like you’re putting a big risk in ruining the best conference tournament out there with a gimmick if the playing surface isn’t right.
